This book has cleared up so many misconception I had about bitcoins
A few years ago I tried to learn what I could about bitcoins using Google searches. The more I read online about bitcoins at the time the more confusing the subject got for me. It was also around this same time that Apple removed all Bitcoin Wallet apps from their app store. Between the confusing information I was finding online, Apple dropping all Bitcoin Wallet apps (Bitcoin wallet apps have since returned to the app store) and some negative stores about bitcoin in the news at the time I decided Bitcoin was not something I wanted to put anymore time into let alone my hard earned cash.Fast forward a few years and I decide to do some more research on bitcoins. Being a big Amazon Prime fan now and a big fan of the “for Dummies” books I go to Amazon to see what I can find. Much to my surprise I find the book “Bitcoin For Dummies 1st Edition” and it was just recently published! I download the free sample and minutes later I purchase the kindle version of the book. What a eye opener Bitcoin For Dummies has been for me. If you are like me and feel that you don’t really have a good understanding about how bitcoins work or even what they are then I highly recommend you read this book from cover to cover. The book does a excellent job of touching on all things bitcoin. I thought at first this book maybe just one sided and only put a positive spin on bitcoins, but it does not. The book talks about the good and the bad. It talks about bitcoins history along with how things have changed and how to currently protect your bitcoins. After reading this book from cover to cover I feel that I have a really good and solid understand of just what bitcoins are and how they work. Well reading the book I opened up a couple Bitcoin Wallet accounts (CoinBase & blockchain) along with ordering a KeepKey hard wallet. Along with my new found knowledge of bitcoins I have had the confidence to purchase my first bitcoins! This book has cleared up so many misconception I had about bitcoins and I can’t say enough good things about it, highly recommend!I will now leave you with a quote from the book and something for you to think about..."No one is saying you need to put your full trust in bitcoin from the start, as there is a lot of information to sift through. But if you are willing to keep an open mind to what bitcoin stands for and the point it is trying to get across, you can make a weighted decision on whether or not to put your trust in digital currencies."

Please Do Not Buy Cryptocurrency until you read this book !
I have just started my journey to learn just what this new currency is. Is it fake? Is it real? Will it change the world or will it quickly fade away? I learned all I wanted to know and so much more. After reading this I navigated my way through uncertainty and set up an account, created a wallet and purchased my first Bitcoin Etherum and Litecoin. This can be frustrating and it does not happen as fast as the pundits say. It takes awhile to get approved, set up a bank account and do all the new procedures. Without Bitcoin for Dummies I would have failed. I highly recommend this book.

Good info but not what I was expecting from "a dummies" book.
A bit disappointed. Instead of giving the information, it put in many internet links to wikipedia if you want more in depth info. When I buy a book, I want to see the information in the book not references to the internet. No information on how hardware wallets work. The kindle version is missing most of the graphics. Not written with the light humor that the "dummies" books are written in that make the dummies book more engaging and easy to read. The information is solid but some sections repeat themselves in the book like the sections on the 51 percent vulnerability. The book goes very light on some topics and deep into some like coding and mining that "dummies" don't care about. I would have liked to see more advice on how to manage wallets. More practical knowledge for end users.

Why buy Bitcoin for Dummies?
The Crypto revolution is underway (my opinion) and Bitcoin is a lead player in this market. I wanted a good foundation on how crypto's work, what is a wallet, how does it work, how do I sign up... and more. This book is answering my questions in terms I can understand. The techie jibberish is left out. Just real words I can relate to OR new terms are actually EXPLAINED.Want to know about Bitcoin? Get this book and then READ IT!David in Maryland

not very informative
You expect this book will teach you to mine bitcoin ,its about 3 hours of reading this short booklet for it to only tell you not to even try to mine bitcoin. The advisement in this book is not even half as detailed as info found on Bitcoin official website, with most of the book simply saying to buy on coin base, or join cloud mining services, a disappointing book.

Still feel like a dummy
Good: wide variety of aspects of Bitcoin. Bad: Superficial coverage of various subjects. Would not have bought this book if I had known this. Had better experience with other "Dummies" books. I still feel like a "dummy" in regards to Bitcoin

Essential read before diving into world of BItcoin! Very in depth!
Don't listen to the few hater comments on this read. It's essential and easy and I thought a good value/cheap. Also bought "Blockchain" the book from Amazon. But you can get up and running with(coinbase and blockchain) .com fairly easily)! I did it backwards and got up and running first! There are fluctuational risks though.

The book was not what I was looking for...
The book provided a good overview of how bitcoin works, but it fell short of what I was looking for. I wanted more specifics on how and where to open a bitcoin account and how to set up a wallet, but all I got was general information. If all you want is general info, this is the book for you. If you want specifics, find another book.

Skirts basic principles/concepts; more 'how to' than 'what is'
Though through reading this book I've learnt a lot about Bitcoin... or at least how it's used, acquired, set up etc... I would still say it's only a superficial understanding of the subject... it's basically more 'how to' than 'what is', in the sense that I don't think the core ideas are explained very well, if at all; they're more 'skirted around' perhaps in the hope that you'll deduce the meaning through exposure and context, which to some extent you do but in my opinion that's no substitute for just some basic explanations and definitions of key terms/ideas such as what the blockchain actually is and what it hopes to achieve. In the end I turned to youtube videos and they gave me the 'ah, I see' moments that this book never did. It's just disappointing in the sense that the first type of book that comes to mind if I want basic information on a subject is a 'Teach Yourself' or 'For Dummies' book, but this, I felt, really missed the mark on that score. But all that said, and as I said, this book is still interesting and informative at the level it does discuss... and more so in light of what I've since learnt from those youtube videos... but I'd just say it requires more knowledge going in than it implies and that would easily have been solved with just a few diagrams or simple definitions. But at the end of the day, still worth a read I think, since it is still informative and still does stimulate curiosity about the subject, but just important to go in with the right expectations; that it's a 'how to' book more than a 'what is' book.

Bitcoin for Dummies
Quite a complex subject but dealt with very clearly. Dummies books can be relied upon to make things simple and it succeeds here, as far as it can. Blockchains are not the easiest thing to understand and trying to buy bitcoins in the UK is not simple. The book could perhaps go into a more detail here. Ideally it could mention other crypto's.

Only a basic introduction
If you know nothing about Bitcoin, this book provides a good basic introduction. I do have to say, though, that the book was not up to the standard that I have come to expect from the "for Dummies" series. There is virtually no technical information in the book. For example it says " Bitcoin miners must validate a new transaction" but it gives no technical information on how this is done.

Don’t buy this book
The info about bitcoin background is useful, but that’s about it. Unfortunately the rest is completely outdated. Like any print book about this fast changing topic can be... try online content instead even YouTube
