Check spreader recommendations
I applied at the suggested rate & instead of 5K I got just 3K. I know my spreader is working correctly because I added a 5K Scott’s product immediately after at their recommendation & I had some product left over (which is normal). This is the 2nd application & both applications came up short of 5K. The excessive rate was not a problem for me since my pH was way off. Not sure how the pH levels have changed yet - hope it is better than the coverage results.

Does what it says it does
My soil PH was 8 and packed. These pictures are of the same batch of sod. One had the soil treated with MAG-I-CAL PLUS and the other was just placed on the bare ground. The treated sod is thick and green. The untreated sod is thin, spindly, and brown in places. It was pretty much guess work on how much to use though.

Soil Food for Alkaline Soil
Very pleased with this product. My lawn was in very poor condition, covered in several different weeds and bare spots. Prior to applying the soil food, I prepared the lawn; pulled all the weeds and raked my lawn, in the front and backyard. I mowed the lawn and did not water it for 5 days to make sure the soil was dry as recommended, then applied the soil food manually (didn't have a spreader at the time), by mid June. I didn't do anything else except for deep watering my lawn twice a week the whole summer. I had thought about over-seeding at times in summer, but then wanted to wait until fall, and now I see that I don't need to plant grass seeds. About a few months later, now in fall, a thick healthy grass has been taking over all the weeds and bare areas. I'll apply the soil food once a year in spring from now on.

Works as Advertised
We were unable to purchase this fertilizer locally, so we were lucky to find it on Amazon. Although the price was high, the fertilizer not only fertilizes, but also lowers the pH of the soil. Our grass improved very quickly and greened up nicely. My husband plans to use it again later in the year. Does a great job . . . just wish the price was lower.

Does nothing
You need hundreds of pounds of this per 1k to make a difference, this product it's been proven to be a scam, the got me once, but that's it, never again, doesn't move the needle, much better alternative for a better price

I'm impressed.
I've always known that I had alkaline soil, but it was never that bad (7.1ish), so I never did anything about it. This year my soil sample came back at 7.35ph, so I decided to try this stuff. The only thing I've changed in my normal routine is just this, otherwise I use a lot of the n-ext products, chicknpoo, and a couple heavy applications of milorganite. This year my lawn is THICC, it's always been a little thinner than I thought it should be and now I know why. Extremely impressed with this product! I used half the bag on my 2,000 sqft front lawn. I'll be doing another soil sample this fall to see if I can put some more down.
