Generic Black Replacement Silicone Skin for Iphone 4, 4S OtterBox Defender

This is a GREAT replacement for the original silicone cover that the Otterbox comes with.First of all, since it is made from plastic, and not silicone, it is MUCH less tacky.This means that it does not grab and hold onto dirt and dust. Any debris can be easily wiped off.However, the downside, since the surface IS NOT tacky, it's somewhat more likely to slip out of someone's hands.NOT mine, but someone......The next thing I want to point out, is that this replacement skin is a much more snug fit than the original.You really have to put some effort into installing it, however, for the long term, I do not see this replacement getting stretched out, and becoming loose fitting like the original skin.Next, as far as the buttons, they are VERY stiff.The home button, and especially the volume buttons require a little bit of strength to push. Not a deal breaker tho.And lastly, the flap on the bottom that protects the port for recharging.It doesn't quite lock into the recess. It works more from the materials memory to stay in place.If you are a frequent phone charger, this MAY, over time, have a tendency to stay more and more open, however, it's not a deal breaker.Overall, I would still recommend this product, especially for it's snug, tight fit! What a bargain!

The most important thing to note before buying this product is that this is NOT an OtterBox product. Another important thing to note is to take the 5-star reviews with a grain of salt (as any smart shopper would know) and realize this replacement skin is not as it good as it may seem.The quality and texture of the silicone feels like it's made of cheaper material than the OtterBox defender's silicone, and it has a very weird smell to it that gives me a headache. However, it does fit the Defender case neatly and works as a suitable replacement. Although I would be a little bit more careful about chucking it against the wall to show off how durable your case is to your friends with this replacement skin on; it seems a lot more flimsier than the original OtterBox silicone.PROS:-Snug fit on the Otterbox Defender case-Cheap alternative to buying a brand new case if your silicone is worn outCONS:-Seems to be made of cheaper quality material-Flimsy compared to original silicone-Weird smell that will probably go away after a week or twoBOTTOM LINE: If your OtterBox Defender silicone covering is very worn out and you do not want to spend money on another Defender case, this is a decent option--although I would recommend just buying another case instead if you can spend the money on it.

Purchased a few of these as replacements for otterbox's OEM Skins since the original otterbox skins lasted 4 months and they wanted 30 dollars each for new ones because they wouldn't honour their warranty, but that's another story.I received the order relatively quick and without hassle. They were noticeably softer and the hinges for the flaps seemed a little thin at first glance.It's since been a week and the skin is still snug with the case and all flaps are still closing securely. There seems to be no premature stretching or wear and taking it on and off the belt holster is a non issue.For the price they seem to be a great value so far. The missing star is for the fact that it could probably be a little thicker on the hinges.

Rubber is a bit firmer than the original, but not in a bad way. I think it will actually hold up better than the official version. The fit is 99% perfect. The couple spots where you could maybe make an argument for it not fitting exactly like the original in no way detract from the overall value of this product. It is very, very close to exact. Not at all loose! Very snug. My old silicone skin had completely fallen apart. This one feels like it will hold up better.Bottom line: Feels good, fits perfectly, no chemical smell. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Also SUPER speedy deliver. Like, two days later.Update: About four months of use later, and it still fits as well as it did on day one. I am almost entirely convinced that this knock off is actually better quality than the original Otterbox skin. The harder rubber really pays off!

It is a good skin for the iPhone 4s. It is not the same quality of the original. The original was more rigid. This is a little softer and thus moves around a little. It works great though, and for the price sure beats buying a whole new case. I would buy another one if this one wears out. It has at least last 6 months with little if any wear and tear. Just the edges are more prone to slide off a little, not much, but enough to notice from the original. For the price it is great!

Just a quick note: for the price, this cover is the perfect replacement for your old, worn out, or ripped Otter Box original cover. Yes, it is a little more slick/slippery than the otter box and yes, it is a little thinner too. But for the cost, you could get 5 of these babies for the price of an original. I work heavy construction and abuse my IPhone. My Otter Box hard case has paid for itself several times over but after several years use, the soft covering finally died. This replacement unit fit perfectly and hasn't given me an ounce of problems. Love it!

Does the job. Since it is not so elastic it will probably not give as good of a protection as the original skin. However the reason the original skin got messed up after 1 year is due to the more elastic material used. Elastic, better protection, faster wear. Less elastic, less protection, probably more resistant to wear. We'll see if it stands the test of time.

It don't really do anything. When it was new it seemed to pick up lint and act like a dust magnet. But that was when it was new. Now that is's a few months old it's stopped that. May be somethig to do with static electricity, but I wouldn't know about that (I'm not Ben Franklin).
