So far no issues with this sharpener. I read lots of reviews on other sharpeners and finally settled on this one.

This pencil sharpener didn't include any instructions; I mean just how hard could it be to figure out, right? I have a doctorate degree for pete's sakes! Yet like every website I found online for instructions; everyone is saying the same thing. How in world do you get the stupid thing open?Well for everyone like me looking for help...I found a review with instructions:With near superhuman strength:The battery compartment is located at the back of the unit and slides down and off for battery installation and/or removal.

I’ve owned this sharpener for a few years now, and it’s the worst pencil sharpener I have ever used in my life. It makes an amazing sharp point, but it breaks the pencil tip off 9/10 times. It doesn’t matter what kind of pencil either, crayola, prismacolor, Blick, polychroms and other higher brands all do the same thing. This sharpener will end up costing you much more than the original price, and it will destroy your expensive art supplies.

Wife bought this at Target for our 7 year old daughter. Battery install was impossible until I came on here and found instructions. How to put in the batteries is not clear at all and it took 5 attempts to put those suckers in. Would have been better if they included instructions. Sharpens OK

I didn't buy this on amazon, rather at a military department store. But I came to amazon today looking for another one, found these terrible reviews, and felt compelled to write a positive one.The battery part isn't that hard to find! Maybe it's because we have a lot of kid toys that savagely consume batteries, but we generally know where to look for a battery compartment when it's location doesn't seem obvious. I didn't even know finding the batter compartment was a "thing" until I read these reviews today.The sharpener itself does a fantastic job at sharpening. It makes sharp points and can cut through even the cheapest pencils with the plastic wrapping with ease. The batteries in ours have lasted since we put them in about a year ago, and this thing is used every day at our homework station, so it isn't a drain financially. It's got a smaller shavings reservoir than what we had originally hoped for, but the kids have taught themselves how to empty it and I'm rendered useless when it comes to sharpening pencils now.This is a good, cheap alternative to pricier battery operated sharpeners. Like I said, I came here today to buy another one. I'll continue buying these sharpeners until they're discontinued.

I assumed for the price I was paying for it, the batteries were already included; particularly since there were no instructions on how to install them. Even the website wasn't very clear or even helpful. I'm glad I came to Amazon to see that I wasn't alone in my thinking. I didn't even realize that my daughter had purchased this item before, because it literally ate her pencils after only a few uses. I urge anyone reading this review not to waste your money! You'd be better off grinding the pencils with your teeth!
