Good Information with Some Conflicting Statements
This book “Essential Oils for Dogs: Natural Remedies and Natural Dog Care Made Easy”, written by author Stacey Moore, is a decent source of information for using essential oils for aromatherapy as they pertain to dogs. I found some of the information to be inconsistent, such as saying to never use tea tree oil and then including tea tree oil in a recipe further into the book, and sometimes unsafe practices were recommended, such as using essential oils in ears which can be bad if the pet’s eardrum is ruptured. There is some great information for using essential oils for skin, coat, and nose care. There are also good recommendations for getting rid of flea and ticks on pets and deodorizing dogs. This book is written well and is very easy to read. The chapters are short and go by quickly. Overall, I would recommend this book to someone looking for information about essential oils as they pertain to pets but would recommend reading other sources as well. essential oils aren't just for people!
I love my essential oils and use them just about daily on myself. I have a little 8.5 pound dog (chihuahua and min pin mix). He was taking Trifexis and started having seizures. I finally got the vet to admit that it can cause seizures in some animals so I took him off of it immediately. While on it he had problems keeping food down and has continued since he's been off it. I have finally found a dog food (from Tractor Supply nonetheless) that he can tolerate. I have read that when dogs like their nose constantly it is a sign of nausea. My dog does that frequently and while I don't know for sure if he's nauseated or not but I have used ginger oil on his belly and he stops licking his nose probably within 15 seconds. One drop does a lot. I am thrilled with this book! I am so happy to have a "recipe" book for him. I truly believe in the health benefits of essential oils and use them almost daily. I have close to 90 oils and do not think I have enough. (I think I might be an closet oil hoarder. LOL) I even have my son and husband believing in them. Both my daughters are into oils and they got me started. While oils are awesome and work wonders on humans some combinations of oils can be very dangerous for your fur baby. I believe in only using therapeutic grade essential oils on myself and or course that goes along to using it on my dog. This book recommends using only therapeutic grade essential oils on your dog to help avoid adverse substances and effects in your dog. I only use doTERRA (certified pure therapeutic grade (CPTG) oils) so I know what I am getting is truly pure but they are very strong. Essential oils can do damage to human's liver in too large of a quantity so you can imaging what it would do to your dog if you do not use it sparingly and properly. One drop does a lot. This book is a wonderful resource for helping you help your fur baby. It's an easy read with a lot of great information and some fun recipes to help them. I love the pictures in it too. There's a picture of an orange spotted dog which I've never seen in my life. I would love to know what it is if anyone knows!Disclaimer... I received the ebook "Essential Oils for Dogs: Natural Remedies and Natural Dog Care Made Easy" at a reduced rate for an honest and unbiased review of it. The comments above are my own opinion and were not influenced by the reduction in price. I hope you have found this review helpful and will consider it as I recommend it highly if you plan on using oils on your dog(s). It's a must read to ensure you do not harm your pup while trying to help him. Have a great day!
