Clap Hands (Oxenbury Board Books)

My children had these books when they were young. They were a gift from a beloved aunt and quickly became a favorite for my children. The original set that my children had was a set of four. All four books are available and sold separately on Amazon. These books are quite durable and survived lots of use in a big family. They are sweet books with just a few words which makes it nice to read to very young children who don't have an attention span for too many words. I spent lots of time cuddling my little ones and reading these books. So glad that I found them here and can now buy them for my grandchildren!

I got this as a gift for my daughter when she was born 31 years ago, from the local children’s bookstore. She loved it, even at six weeks old. She’d stare fascinated at the illustrations. I’ve given as a baby gift so many times now I can’t remember how many. I love the whole series.

I love this set of books by Helen Oxenbury because of the different ethnicities of babies. There is a little for everyone...which is something I have been looking for in books for my biracial son. He identifies with more then one of the babies and loves doing what the babies do in the pictures. This book, in particular, is fun because the babies dance and spin and eat and wave...all things that he knows how to do too. I highly recommend getting all 4 books in this set. My son cannot go to sleep until we have read the bedtime book and he has patted each baby.

Helen Oxenbury's board books are simply amazing! Babies of all races will recognize little ones like themselves between the pages. Oxenbury's warm artistic style as well as her use of rhythm and rhyme is enchanting. I first discovered Oxenbury's books when my children were young. I recently bought a set of her baby board books for my newborn granddaughter. Did you know Helen Oxenbury pioneered baby board books? I gave it to my grandson who is enjoying it.

Our 7-month old lovessss this book! We made it into a song and then it about eating, we sing it when he eats. Great book for babies!

Nothing special about this book, I wonder why people are raving about it. Oh dear and Dear Zoo are far better books for babies.

Quality is good. Not much of a story- expensive for what it is

I'm not sure why but Helen Oxenbury books are always a big hit with my daughter. My mum loves them and read them to me when I was a baby, so they have withstood the test of time!This is a fairly big book with good clear drawings and simple lyrics that flow well. It is a very short book, but my daughter adores it and you can't ask more than that! At 18 months she is switching more to simple stories, but this is definately one I will hold onto for any future children.
