Destiny Daily Readings: Step into Your Purpose

On the path to destiny, your destiny, the first step begins inside of you. I think TD Jakes does a great job of underscoring that fact. If you will just take the first step to water that seed that has been planted within, you would begin to do great things, for the benefit of others, and things that only you were gifted to do…to those individuals, groups and communities only you can reach.Great read, and thank you T.D. Jakes for the time and effort you spent writing it.

Imagine wearing a dress throughout your life. It’s a nice dress — vibrant color, beautiful design, lovely fabric — but it doesn’t fit well. It’s too tight round the waist, too loose on your shoulder, and the neckline is askew. You feel silly wearing this dress, like you’re on display. But everyone around you tells you this is the dress you should wear. Don’t take it off! Don’t get a different one. You want a custom-made dress? Are you mad? You’d never be able to create a dress like that. It’s too out there, too... you. Be like us, dress like us! You’ll feel better. It doesn’t fit well? So what? You won’t even notice it after a while —We all have a preordained destiny. I believe that. I grew up in faith, and I remember praying ever since I was a little girl. And I look back at those instances, and the ones after, and I see how God has directed my steps, and all the prayers He’s answered throughout my life. Do I always get my way? Nope. But, in retrospect, I see why God didn’t grant certain things, and I am grateful for His intervention.DESTINY is a great book that teaches us how to reach our dreams and goals — the promises that God placed in our hearts — to the fullness of our abilities and limitations. It teaches us to dig deep and use discernment to decide what is right and what is wrong. Jakes focuses on both internal and external circumstances — the spiritual as well as the secular — and shows us that sometimes we are our own worst enemy. Sure, people will try to talk you out of your dreams. It makes them uncomfortable, knowing you have so much in you, and they can almost sense your potential of accomplishing them. That’s why they’ll try to talk you out of it, will make you want to blend in. I have resisted the status quo throughout my life. Why? Because I knew something better was in store for me. God had something better than what even I had in mind. And you know what? He was right. That is why you should open your mind, heart and spirit in your walk through Destiny. This is something you must do for most, if not throughout your life. Beware of your own negative thoughts and feelings, beware of the enemy’s lies, and beware of toxic people.“The classic vampire of the horror genre is smart, cunning, and physically attractive. When he comes after you, he’ll usually be smooth, even charming. He studies his prey, chooses carefully, and lures you in before the strike... They are dangerous because, ultimately, they suck out your life force. They don’t care about your hopes, dreams, or Destiny. They’re predators who want to drain you dry.”Toxic people are energy and spiritual vampires. They’ll dump their inner ugliness on to you, and then point the finger at you. Beware of these people. They can pass for a friend, be a family member, even your spouse. It would be great if they had a tattoo on their forehead that read, “Cluster B Personality," but they don’t. You must keep your eyes and ears open. They can’t wear a mask all the time. It slips from time to time. When they tell you what they are with their words and actions, believe them. As T.D Jakes once said in a super-powerful message, “When people can walk away from you, let them walk!” Your Destiny isn't tied to the person who leaves. Don’t chase after people — let them go and then lock the door behind them. Know your value as a human being, as God’s child.This is a great book. I love reaffirming books about accomplishing and maintaining one’s goals, but I prefer those with a spiritual kick. And so, I recommend this, and don‘t forget: wear your own beautiful custom-made gown. Never settle!Give this book a whirl. Not a Christian? Give it a whirl anyway. There’s so much wisdom and invaluable advice in this book that no one should miss out on it. Five solid Coconut-Milk and Honey Cold Brew iced coffees (my invention!).

If anyone is sitting on the fence of procrastination for what God has called you to do, this is a must read! This book will remind you of your purpose when you received that direction from God to do something meaningful in your life and inspire you to keep moving forward!

This book is a blessing. I have read it several times already and it’s been very motivating.

Sorta long post... I had been struggling with what was my life's purpose. You see, I had been going to school obtaining degree after degree in hopes of advancing in my career. All while my God given talent was sitting on the shelf most of the year. One morning, while strolling social media, a FB friend posted a video of a group of praise mimes doing 'Let them walk'. At the time, the 'praise dance' nor did the sermon speak to my life, but I was intrigued by it and it caused me to search more into who this sermon was by. As I searched I ended up on YouTube of a video and it was more praising to the sermon 'Let them. Walk'. After about my 3rd video, I finally saw It was by TD Jakes and as I 'thought' i was clicking on the original source, I was directed to Amazon to this book. At that very moment, I knew God spoke to me through the mime, to get me to this book. The first 5 pages had me bound and I immediately starting working toward my purpose. Needless to say, there is a section that says 'You can have all the degrees you want and you still will not be living in your purpose '. That was for me. Be blessed and hope this helps!

POWERFUL! I would expect nothing less. What a Father figure! Since my early years of being saved I have gleaned from Bishop Jakes from the book of Ephesians to Trust Your "INSTINCTS" you have never failed to encourage us to take hold of all God has for us and to be strong because God's got us! I have ministered to many because of your powerful influence to reach through the media and tap deep into the call God has on each of our lives. DESTINY is the bow of God's gift! It is a must read for those who truly hunger for their purpose and can't sleep without answering God's call to live the life God intended for us. DESTINY brings such great clarity in purpose, understanding to why one is driven beyond self, why one hungers with passion, deep calls unto to deep. I got my copy on CD because I love the sound of Bishop Jakes voice and was able to hear his heart behind his message. I had to share it with a friend who suffers from depression immediately because I knew it would be the life saver she needed and she listens to it over and over again so that it sinks in deep and takes root effectively with longevity. I liked the simplicity of how this book is written. It is very easy to digest and understand. I originally downloaded a sample, but just had to purchase it, so I could read it in it's entirety and I am so glad I did. I think it is a book that I will read and refer to again and again. It's very encouraging and let's me know that all the times when I feel like giving up or that I feel like I simply cannot take anymore are normal thoughts and feelings. It inspires me to keep going and never to quit and let's me know that " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" no matter how challenging life gets.

Fabulous purchase! I absolutely love this book. It's really theory based and provides us with an understanding of destiny. The book is filled with so much wisdom and Bishop Jakes provides us with a huge insight into how to operate within our destiny. There are also practical tips provide and im currently over half way through the book.For those of you that haven't read instinct before, it will still be extremely helpful as I hadn't read instinct before reading destiny. Definitely recommend!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I couldn't put it down. I will be reading this again. Found it to be very insightful and power driven. TD Jakes is a positive, influential man of God and I've always enjoyed his books, TV programmes and messages.God bless you Sir.
