Not for beginner-beginners
I wanted more hand stitches: How to sew on a button, how to mend a hole in my jacket, how to repair frayed cuffs of an ancient shirt, etc. I needed photos or better illustrations that were "step 1 to step 2 to step 3", NOT 1 drawing per stitch. That's not enough for a visual learner. Thanks to sewing blogs, sites & YouTube I learned how to sew a teeny bit: I hand-backstitched the bottoms of old T-shirts because I wanted laundry & shopping bags. Yay, the shirts & stitches didn't rip under heavy weight.Next time I'll borrow from the library before I buy. Also, I'm gonna try kids' books & kits like Klutz.

Just Right For a Beginner
I chose this book because I am a beginner at sewing clothes. The book was informative and thorough without being overwhelming. I felt it was well-written with an inviting style. The projects presented are attractive and doable. The glossary is helpful, and the list of resources very useful. I enjoyed reading it straight through the first time, and I've since returned to it often to review a point or consider a project to try.

Yes You Can
This was the perfect gift to give to my grand daughter who has just begun sewing. It gives those needed basic tips for sewing in a very clear way. Pictures worth a thousand words! I spent many years sewing for my family and would have loved this book to help me out of tricky corners.
