CZ Scorpion Adapter

When I bought my CZ Scorpion Evo 3 S1 Pistol, I already knew I wanted to add a Pistol Brace to it. I did some research and found several dedicated adapters from different manufacturers for attaching a brace or stock to the rear of the Scorpion. I had already decided on the Pistol Brace I wanted to use, in this case the SB Tactical SBA3 model. This brace uses a 5-position AR-15 style buffer tube. My first intention was to use a folding adapter and my research led me to determine that the Sylvan Arms Folding Adapter appeared to be a high quality choice at the best price. I ordered it and while I was waiting for it to arrive, I watched a few videos and read a few articles which made me realize that, with the extra length of the folding mechanism of that adapter, it would actually make the "length of pull" too long to stay within the legal limits per the ATF. Legal Length Of Pull is measured from the butt end of the Pistol Brace to the middle of the face of the trigger "shoe", which cannot exceed 15 1/2" to remain a "Pistol" and not become an "Short Barreled Rifle (SBR)" or an Any Other Weapon (AOW). The folding adapter put it more than an inch and a quarter over this limit.I did further research on "fixed", non-folding adapters and again found a quality adapter for a good price by Sylvan Arms, so I ordered that adapter. This is the adapter which I review here and which is shown in the photos. After verifying measurements, I was happy to determine that the Length Of Pull with this adapter was brought down to EXACTLY 15 1/2" (Installed). I was clued in by a friend about a small and inexpensive accessory made by SB Tactical for the SBA3 Pistol Brace, which are "Length Of Pull Limiters". They are not considered "modifications" to the Pistol Brace because SB Tactical made them specifically as a part for the SBA3 brace. You place how ever many of the included 5 small plugs that are needed in the buffer tube position holes to achieve the desired decrease in length of pull. With one of these plugs, I cut an extra 1/2" off Length Of Pull, just to have a "safety factor" and stay well within the legal limits.The installation of the Sylvan Arms adapter was straightforward as it replaces the factory aluminum sling adapter on the butt end of the pistol. By depressing a spring loaded catch, this sling adapter slides off, and the Sylvan Arms adapter slides into its place. I did note that my adapter was a bit more loose in the main rails than I would like and rattled a bit. While determining how to remedy this, I noticed that there is a small screw in one of the rail "tracks" on the right side of the Scorpion, by just barely backing this screw out less than a half Millimetre, I noted that this screw head pushing slightly on the adapter from underneath would be enough to tighten up the fit and stop any rattling from the adapter. It was a VERY easy solution. The rest of the installation went without a hitch and the pistol brace fit fine. I will also note that the advertising and descriptions of this adapter mention "2 threaded alignment holes", which are meant to use a 3/16" "half dog set screw" for proper indexing. There are no such "alignment holes" in mine and from other reviews I have seen that many other reviewers have said there aren't any in their adapters, either. I was able, by securing my gun in a vise, to turn the buffer tube in the adapter with a strap wrench to get a tight fit and still index the buffer tube properly. Overall, I am absolutely pleased with my purchase of the Sylvan Arms Scorpion Stock/Brace Adapter. It is beautifully machined and well designed, giving some allowance for slight variances in each individual gun. The finish is beautiful with a satin appearance which perfectly matches the finish of the CZ stock Scorpion "iron sights". I would highly recommend this adapter, although if you do not have access to a selection of tools and/or are not mechanically skilled, I would absolutely recommend that this be installed by a competent gunsmith. I will remain curious as to why Sylvan Arms states that these adapters have "Threaded Alignment Holes" for indexing the buffer tube in them, when no such holes exist. They would certainly add to the ease of assembly if they did.

I was very impressed by this adapter. It fits solidly on my scorpion, and there was no wiggle to a pistol receiver extension tube when installed. Fit and finish are great. It looks like it belongs on the scorpion, and not like something a mall ninja stuck on there next to their rail mounted tactical toilet paper holder. One thing I did not know before purchasing is this same company makes a folding version of this same cz adapter. I did not see that on Amazon so you might need to go to their website to get that. Come to think of it, I went to their website after receiving this because it was of such good quality and I wanted to see what else they made. That might be the biggest testament to how nice this is.

A quality adapter and fits my scorpion perfectly. This adapter has sturdy feel, easily slips on with no play. The finish a great color and compliments the gun. Very satisfied with this adapter

Positions brace kind of low but some people are into the super high sights so you may like

perfect fit after reading other review I was worried about how well this would fit on my toy. Once it arrived and I installed to my scorpion I noticed a slight vertical "wiggle" caused by the lock pin on the back of the CZ, this was easily fixed by using the supplied allen key to tighten the 2 supplied lock screws that lock the adapter to the back of the toy with 0 wiggle

The adapter fit and finish is perfect. There are no burrs or tool marks and threads are clean and true. Adapter slides in smoothly and snug. Positive lock of detent is heard and no wobble once in place. I used with the KAK tube and Shockwave blade. Everything went on as it should. Just note that you will need a castle nut for your install.

Basically it worked as advertised however it is very loose so I had to paint it several times to get the play out of it. That seems to have fixed it so far. It also would have been nice to have a set screw so that when you screw in the buffer tube that you can lock it in with the set screw and not have to use lock tight. It seems like it is well made and will out last me but I also wish it was perfect right out of the package.
