Reasonable Gaming Monitor. Good input lag, some ghosting, middling audio.
Word of warning, I received a Uperfect monitor when ordering this item, so that's what I'll review. I'm probably going to return it because I'm too confused by receiving an incorrectly branded item.------This monitor has very good input lag. It's more or less on par with the old ASUS monitor used at EVO, so if you're a fighting game player, this is quite solid. To be clear, it never took more than an extra 1-2ms to fully draw the next frame compared to the ASUS, and typically drew it at the same time. That said, the pixel response time (GTG) on this monitor is not very impressive, sitting at between 15-25ms. This basically amounts to ghosting that lasts for around 1f in a 60fps game. It was not really noticeable in gameplay, but some people may be more sensitive to it than I am.I've had a number of fighting game players play their matches on this monitor, and the general consensus is that it's good enough for casuals, but not for tournament play. The majority didn't notice any real issues while playing on it, but did say spectating was a bit strange because ghosting was more noticeable in that situation. Two players expressed problems with the ghosting while playing, feeling that the screen was laggy as a result. This monitor can be powered by USB ports on a PS4 and a Nintendo Switch dock, so long as the volume and brightness are set to around 50%. Maxing out either will cause the monitor to flicker on and off as it runs out of power. There is NO touchscreen functionality on this monitor (not sure why the review wants me to rate that). This is expected, since it's not advertised as a touchscreen monitor.Colours are probably not the best, but it looks fine for gaming and I have no complaints.Viewing angles are quite good. Compared to something like the HORI portable monitor, where sitting even slightly below it causes colours to start inverting, this monitor is viewable from most angles without issue.Audio is sub-par, but sufficiently loud when maxed out to use in a noisy arcade environment for fighting games. The quality is terrible, though, so while it works for fighting games, don't expect to enjoy watching videos on it.My monitor came with rubber feet stuck to the front of the metal housing, which made no sense. I moved the rubber feet to the bottom of the monitor, and once I had them in place there, the case stand worked extremely well. Without the rubber feet on the bottom, the monitor itself is too slippery and will slide away from the stand until it falls flat. For the curious, while there is a USB-C input port that works with phones (Samsung DEX mode is supported) and computers and whatnot, it does not support direct plug-and-play with the Nintendo Switch.---For reference, all testing for lag was done with 960fps slow-motion recordings with video output split between the Eviciv/Uperfect portable monitor and a ASUS EVO tournament monitor.
