Works best for spiral-cut half ham
Works fine but with a few caveats. 1. First, this is intended for a bone-in half ham. The bone end is a little pointed, which is why the holder is shaped the way funky way it is. You want the ham to sit as far down in the holder as possible, so you need to turn the ham until it's as seated in the holder as stable as possible. 2. Carving is risky. You should use this for a pre-carved or spiral-cut ham that you have already cut into sections and around the bone, so that guests can simply lift off the piece(s) that they want. 3. Set up your holder on a wood cutting board or cut out a section of that rubbery mesh drawer-liner (available at any grocery store) and put in on your platter - then put the ham holder on top of that. It REALLY helps keep the holder from sliding around on your platter, or whatever else you've got it sitting on top of. Then cover all around the bottom of the holder with some nice greens (I used mustard greens), and fruit or flowers if you want... This really makes for a beautiful lifted presentation and showcases your ham. As long as you are willing to put a little effort, this holder works great and is definitely worth the price. I agree with another reviewer however, that the design would be improved and more stable if it was "squatier", meaning shorter and bigger around on the top. It could also use rubber "feet" or tubing around the legs, to keep it from sliding around.

Ham Holder a Hit
I bought this of my wife's 60th birthday party at which I decided we'd serve ham in addition to other stuff. This thing was the hit of the party and I suspect that since I shared that I had purchased it from Amazon.com for the princely sum of less than 5 bucks you'll get some business from it.I found it hard to believe that in a city like Boca Raton quite a few people had never seen a ham holder. It held up a ham, thus it's a winner and did what it said it would do.

Good fir small hams
Smaller than what I expected. If you have a big game may not hold it.

It does the job
Seemed a little small, and it was tippy when I set it down (fixed by bending one of the legs out, took a good amount of force not sure everyone could do it), but once i go the ham in it it held it well and I was able to carve it very easily for our Easter brunch. Bottom line, it does the job.

Too small for American type ham
I think this item is good for hams from Spain or italy. The dried and cured type, or perhaps a country ham. It is too small and canot handle either a shank end or butt end ham that is typical of the Cook's or Smithfield brand of ham that most US supermarkets carry. the base is just too small. It is a very good quality product just not practical for a typical American style ham. I have gone back to my old 3 pound cofffee can. If they made this product to be larger in diameter it would be perfect. The order and shipment were on time.

Already threw it away!
Nice concept, constructed well, looks nice, but top heavy, to small for most hams and just didn't work even with the small ham we placed in it. Tried using it twice with no positive results. Found a spiral sliced small enough that did finally fit in it but the darn thing kept falling over and was almost impossible to slice and serve from without four hands. Maybe attached to your table with a vice grip. But then why bother. Just stick the ham in the vice grip instead. Much more sturdy and stable. Nothing like staining up a nice vintage holiday table cloth thats been passed down generation to generation at a family gathering with honey glaze, grease, and ham juice or watching the ham fall and roll across the table into Uncle Jerrys' Lap. Good Luck with yours. Mine is doing its' thing now at the local land fill!

The ham stands alone.
Using the stand created a dynamic presentation. I would have liked it to be a bit larger in order to be more stable.
