Great Sock Yarn!
I've been using Patons Kroy sock yarn for more years than I can remember. It's soft, doesn't itch and wears like iron. I machine wash (warm) and dry (low) items knitted with Kroy and have no problems with pilling or shrinkage. I love the variety of colors available and the price is very reasonable for this type of yarn.

sock yarn
i have crocheted all my socks and at times used any old yarn and now i see the difference between 100% acrylic or polyester and the wool blend of pattons regular sock and kroy sock yarn. it takes a while to crochet a pair of socks - small stitches make for more comfortable socks - so i'm not going to waste my time on anything but pattons yarn. the design patterns are built in and the colors are great. i wash in the machine with cold water and dry on a small clothes rack - never in the dryer,,,i don't care what the label says. the dryers here in my apartment complex just have one setting - very hot.

Soft, pretty, and sturdy yarn
I love this yarn. It is soft and yet durable over many years of wear. It is perfectly spun, with enough fuzz to hide minor flaws and make one's knitting look perfectly smooth. It is great to knit with, is not likely to split on the needles, and I've never found a knot in a ball. The colors are great, although I wish they had even more selection. And the price is great for the quality. If only they made more colors!

best yarn for socks, mittens, clothing
Colors are exactly as pictured. Washes (machine) well and becomes very soft. Thanks!

Yarn received not even close in color to yarn pictured!
First, Patons is a wonderful yarn, that is not the problem. I needed another ball to finish a project and my local craft store had no more. I ordered based on picture, name of color, and product numbers of the yarn I wanted, which is multicolored beige, brown, blues and greens. The yarn I received was shades of grey, despite name of color and product numbers being the same. The dye lot number was different as I expected, but should have been close enough for my project. Contacting the parent company Yarnspirations, I found out they had changed suppliers for Patons, which may be an explanation. However, not keeping product purchasing sites up to date is a problem. PS: my original yarn may have been discontinued, but I did find it on Ebay!

Warm, intermediate knitter yarn
Used to knit socks, so if any stitches get dropped watch out for the 4 plys splitting, making it hard to get back on the needles in original smooth condition. So would not suggest for a beginning knitter. 2 skeins = 1 pair socks. Liked the result and loft of the yarn.
