Easy Process
I spoke with Dometic with my old part number, and they suggested this part number as a replacement. I found it on Amazon, and it was delivered the NEXT DAY via Prime @ no extra shipping charge. The unit was in the box with the box in near perfect condition. My Son and Wife helped me get this on the roof of my 40' Newmar Moutain Aire 4018. There are some great videos on Youtube with different tricks to make it easy to get up there.. I used two ratchet straps and a rope, two people on the roof to pull the rope and wife keeping it from sliding back down the ladder as we hoisted it up. Came with the Gasket, and all connections needed. My RV is from 2004, so it has the 5 button thermostat. This unit's control board is for the 12 button thermostat. It won't work with the 5 button, so I also ordered the board 3313107.107 which was replaced along with the Ambient temp sensor. I am told this kit only works if you have the heat pump version of the AC unit.Installation was pretty easy honestly, I took my sweet time to get it right. I have the MicroAir (5button version) Thermostat which Dometic couldn't tell me if it works with the new AC or not.. I had to "RESET" it.. but then it came back on with all the previous settings and worked perfectly. I think the NEW AC blows a little harder than the old one and therefor maybe a bit louder but it's much COLDER than the old unit so money well spent in my opinion. This unit was made in Mexico just like the 20 year old unit it replaces. The only issue I had was the little foam in each bolt location was shorter than the square part around the duct. I assume this is to bolt it down enough that it contacts the roof.. Mine didn't line up exactly, so I had to drill some holes in the METAL of the ac unit. I also removed the foam pieces around the bolts and used one slightly thicker and softer to seal the holes in the roof. This is something anyone not afraid of electrical wiring can do. Hardest part was getting it on the roof! on a side note, I prefer the "Steele Rubber" one piece AC gasket vs the one this comes with.

louder than original
Installed fairly easy after getting the correct control panel for my RV, unit is louder than original i went from a 13.5K to 15K and it cools very nice. I would buy again I just wish it was quieter.

Reliable unit
This item is a replacement for the original 13000BTU Penguin ducted unit installed by the manufacturer back in 1996. If purchasing this unit as a direct replacement for the 13000BTU Unit remove the control box in the Ceiling, as this unit has it inside the roof unit.you will probably need a new thermostat as the original one that came with my coach wouldn’t connect.

Shipping Company Gave this Unit a Pretty Rough Ride
Purchased this unit becuase it was the exact replacement for my unit that had just failed.Price was right, and it arrived right on time. My issue is with the condition of the unit. The box was in rough shape, but not the worst I've ever seen. I immediately opened the box and inspected the unit, without removing it from box. It looked OK just sitting in the box.It wasn't until I got it up on the roof of the motorhome and bolted down, that I removed the top to set the dip switches. Removing the top revealed a bent metal chassis(base). It appeared the unit had been dropped on its side. Not wanting to un-install the unit and return it, I continued with the installation thinking that I needed to at least see if it worked before I started any return process. I bent the metal base back by hand, and the housing around the blower fan had shifted. Simply removing the fan shroud and re-installing seemed to fix it.Good news is, the unit - even as beat up as it is - works. I'm going to register it for warranty purposes and hope for the best.Make no mistake, I'm very disappointed with this transaction. To spend this kind of money, and get a unit that is less than perfect is infuriating!!!This one appears to be squarely on the shipping company!

Penguin II
Work perfectly, a lot quieter than the old Dometics. Put in a new Micro Air thermostat, now I can control them from anywhere with my phone.

Unit is damaged. The description indicated the box was damaged, but inside the unit is bent.
Cannot figure out how to get support from Dometic per the Amazon site. The Website is of no help, and Dometic says it's a shipper problem not there's. The unit is bolted to roof of RV. 110 pounds took two men and two latter's to get it up there. Bolted it on then found it to be broken. Had it repaired because we needed it but vibrates. will not last.Wish someone from Amazon would call. taking it off and shipping back is a problem and what about the 280 dollars to repair?

Powerful and efficient
I purchased this to replace a 22 year old 11,000 BTU roof top AC. This 15,000 BTU AC uses less power and really pumps out the air. I had an issue with the first unit that was shipped to me and the seller has been absolutely awesome and accommodating. They promptly sent me the correct one and arranged for the return shipping. I will absolutely buy from them again!!!
