Beautiful pictures and great recipes
Asma Khan is a legend and her book is every bit as good as the restaurant. The recipes are homestyle and dont have bog-standard Westernized Indian food. If you're looking for saag paneer and chicken tikka masala, this is not for you.

YUM
Ate at the restaurant in London and was sad I didnt have enough room in my luggage to buy the book. Glad to see the e-version has America-friendly units :-) The roti recipe was the only one that seemed a little off, but I was able to adjust with more liquids.

You will fall in love with Indian cuisine and Asma
Darjeeling Express, the popular London restaurant founded by Asma Khan, started as a dinner for a dozen guests in a home where Indian food was lovingly cooked from family recipes going back generations. The pop-up in Soho was wildly successful and led to a permanent restaurant location at Kingly Court, Carnaby in London. The kitchen at Darjeeling Express is run by an all-women team and features home-style food cooked with passion. The restaurant champions females as a portion of the profits from the restaurant go to the Second Daughter's Fund.Asma's debut cookbook, Asma's Indian Kitchen: Home-Cooked Food Brought to You by Darjeeling Express pays homage to the author's royal Mughlai ancestry and the busy streets of Kolkata, where she grew up. Winner of a World Gourmand award in the Indian Food Category UK, this title has made many best book lists in 2018.The author's bio is impressive. After completing her law degree she went on to earn a PhD in British Constitutional Law at Kings College London. Cooking was always her passion which spurred Asma to register for a food business. As mentioned above, Asma is a staunch advocate for social change and will be the first British Chef to star in Netflix's award-winning series Chef's Table.Asma's Indian Kitchen was published in the US in February of this year by Interlink Books (and in the UK by Pavilion in October 2018). It is beautifully photographed with chapters organized as follows heavily focusing on feasts: Feasts for Two, Family Feasts, Feasting with Friends, and Celebratory Feasts. The book ends with menu suggestions to guide the reader in preparing an Indian spread. The dishes here are approachable with ingredients available at most major markets. There are recipes that I haven't come across myself before in an Indian cookery book. Those dishes include Chicken chaap (a unique dish from Bengal), Spicy roast beef, and Broccoli with nigella seeds and egg.As Director of Publicity for Eat Your Books, I review hundreds of books a year and this title is truly special and unique. Another reviewer's comment regarding two recipes - does not make sense.

Absolutely wonderful!
Not only is the book itself beautiful, it's filled with wonderful recipes and loads of instructional and useful information about Indian cooking.Reading through the book is like meeting Asma in person. By the time you have finished reading her story, you feel certain you could be firm, fast friends. The photographs are beautiful and the book is filled with warmth.

Best authentic recipes.
Last thanksgiving in Yardley, PA I was talking with Zakira and Sarah Naeem about opening a cafe since it’s so hard to find good desi food and they mentioned that their relative had opened a restaurant and written a book and has done an amazing job. Immediately I googled and found this book on amazon but it was not available in U.S. My daughter helped me try 2 of her free recipes and they were very authentic and delicious. Finally last night bought the kindle version and love it.

Fantastic recipes so glad I bought this.
I use this little book on a regular basis having purchased as part of GBC cookbook club. The food is really delicious, very unlike sweet sticky takeout. My family regularly request that I cook from this. Easy to follow, simple recipes that result in superb flavour, it amazes me. For a beginner cook or a seasoned one. Highly recommend

Quick to make delicious recipes
I ordered this book after watching Asma on Chef's Table, and her numerous television appearances. She struck me as a vivacious character, and her recipes accessible, which is why I bought this book. I have a large cookbook collection, with a lot of Indian cookbooks, and this is one of my favourites. I hate cooking rice, and I was pleased that the rice dish, the Tehri pulao, pictured turned out really well. The recipes are great and I would recommend for cooks for all levels. I am going to make the carrot dessert this evening, I'll edit this post to let you know how I get on! :-)
