These Carbathello Pastel Chalk pencils are just what I needed. And they were a great price! I have used another brand of chalk pencils, but this set is much more vibrant in color and smooth to use. I look forward to using them often in my projects.

Love these so far. They’re actually soft and have great pigment to them. I’ve always had trouble with “soft pastel pencils” because none of them were actually soft or had some sort of wax in them. These are the first detail pastel pencil I’ve liked and get the results I want. Blending is a lil tricky but just needs some practice.

I kept hearing about the CarbOthellos being the best bang for your buck when it comes to pastel pencils. Pastel anything is expensive. I was able to purchase these as an open box as the tin was completely banged up but the pencils were perfect. The colors are wonderful and they lay down nicely on the paper. There is a lot of dust with them, so if you have white carpet, you may want to put something down to prevent the dust from staining your carpet. Although I am a beginner, I did do extensive research as to which pastel pencils were the highest quality at the lowest price. Stabilos kept coming out on top with Faber Castell and Derwent nipping at its heels. They definitely are a bit cheaper in price than the other two so if money is your deciding factor, then these are your best bargain. But if you are looking for the highest quality for your dollar, I would try purchasing one of each open stock to decide what you like best. They are all pretty good but have very different feels. For me though, it was a great investment and I don't think you would be disappointed.

Very nice set of pastel chalk pencils. These are great for sketching or general pastel work. The colors are fairly rich and look great on gray or tan papers. These pencils do have a nice thick core.They blend great with your finger, pastel blender or q tip. They erase easily with a chalk eraser.These do work well with water but colors aren't as brilliant but still beautiful.These are on par with Derwent pastels, in fact some of the colors are considerably brighter if not using water.The only major downside is that I wish there were more colors. Great set for beginner and student artists, even professional artists. Also good for using in adult coloring books for background work. I definitely recommend these not only for price but for quality.

Product is comfortable to use, offers a variety of nice colors and applies easily. It is a good choice for trying chalk pencils for the first time to see if you enjoy that medium for projects. I would recommend this product to others.

The pencils are soft enough to leave color on the drawing. Harder pastel pencils dig into the glazes an fixatives that I had sprayed or brushed on the picture.

Great pencil set! Comes in a nice metal box for storage and protection and the lid is not difficult to open. I have purchased the 24 pencil set and wanted more colors. This set has many variations of color! Easily blended with finger, sponge etc. rubs off easily on flat paper and wood so fixative or polyurethane is necessary on wood. I used light fixative which made colors bolder, but after drying the color moves around or comes off slightly. The picture did not change too much but I worry over time it could rub off. That’s why I suggest only using these in items which will not be used after completing. I made a project board with a design in these pencils, I will have to coat with poly before I can use it.

I would give these a five star rating. I love them and I’m really hesitant on sending them back but they smell so bad of mold. I contacted Amazon and they sent a replacement immediately and that too smells like mold.If you do not mind mold smell they are good orther than that.

These pencils are really nice. They are like chalk and oil pastels mixed together. They blend well. A little bit of a smell but not strong.

Carbotellos are highly underrated. They’re amazing pencils for beginners and those new to pastel, and a great part of the toolbox of more experienced artists who know when and how to utilize them to give their paintings a soft, ethereal feel. Love, love, love these pencils. They’re also sold open stock in El Maayergy where you can find a wider range of colors not necessarily available in boxed sets. I can’t live without their skin tone colors (the darker reds, beiges, pale yellows, light greens, soft and petal pinks, ochres and umbers). Would highly recommend. 10/10, no notes except sometime, rarely tho, the cores in some pencils can be defective but I’ve found that this is the case with most brands, including some high end ones. Nothing’s perfect but these are still a SOLID choice, and one of my all-time favorite pastels.
