Holman Old Testament Commentary Series- 20 volume set

I received my complete set of Old and New Testament commentaries by Holman the other day and my first response has been one of disappointment. I was hoping for a commentary that was equivalent to Henry's. If you are looking for just a "relational" Bible study, as one of the authors has called it, then I guess it would meet your expectations. If you are looking for an in depth exegetical study of God's Word, do not buy this commentary.

I already had the Holman NT series and I love the way it is written and provides questions for Bible class teachers. Whether you use them or not, it initiates thinking I may not have ventured into even though I am relying on the Holy Spirit.

I started with Joshua and was so impressed with the depth and breadth of this study guide---and the ease it granted to structure a class---that I ordered the entire OT set, and the New testament set as well. I love it---and my class is growing--so they must love it too!

I purchased this series to gain a deeper understanding of the Old Testament books of the bible. I have found each book to be thorough and written in language that is easily understood. I will use these books as I begin my seminary work and they will indeed be helpful during my survey course in the Old Testament. I have additionally purchased the New Testament Commentary series which is just as user friendly and informational.

Have waited for several years to be able to purchase the entire Holman Commentary Series. Excited about reading them alongside my studying in the Word of God.

I like the concise but informative style of this commentary. And the price is just right. I would recommend it to anyone who needs to teach from the Old Testament.
