Josef Originals: Charming Figurines (Schiffer Book for Collectors)

This is a must have for any Josef collector. I use it to identify potential purchases as well as keep track of what I buy.

The backstory on Muriel Joseph George is good and the pictures are very nice... However, many of the Josef figurines are not shown or even listed. It allows you to easily identify many figurines, but still, this book could be a lot more complete. This is NOT a good price guide, so be ware of that. Almost every figurine in the book is valued at the same price! I have seen on Ebay that the prices can and do vary far more than the book says they do. You are better off just watching the prices the auctions end at.

ジョセフ・オリジナルはアメリカ、カリフォルニアのメーカーで１９４０年〜８０年ごろに日本で陶器の人形を作らせました。１０数ｃｍほどの小さな人形達は、可愛らしいドレスを着て、誕生石を持った１月から１２月までの人形、世界の民族衣装を着たシリーズ、また愛らしい動物達などがあり、現在、アメリカではコレクターアイテムになっています。この本はコレクションの第一人者である著者のコレクションをカタログ化したものですが、残念ながら写真が良くありません。実物の魅力の十分の一も伝わらない下手な写真と構成のお陰でせっかくのコレクションが台無しです。写真のドールについての説明も無く、タイトルと価格だけ。製作年や詳細がほしかった。価格などは常に変動するものなので、無意味だと思いますが。価格からすると★は１個と評価せざるを得ません。
