The Care and Use of Japanese Woodworking Tools: Saws, Planes, Chisels, Marking Gauges, Stones

This is an excellent description of the Japanese approach to woodworking. I am thoroughly enjoying this introduction despite the fact that I will never achieve the status of a Japanese woodworker. However, I am engaged to advance my skills significantly.

Lots of information about Japanese pull saws. Not much on how exactly to use them correctly though.

Good reference book

I bought this book the first time about five years ago when I first became interested in Japanese woodworking. With no offense meant to the other reviewer, this book helped me tremendously back then as it kept everything very simple. In the ensuing years since, I have gone WAY past the slippery slope and am buried in the tools, joinery and culture. :o) My biggest issues now are finding books at a much higher level for both the tools and the joinery. However, even with that I still come back to Kip & Ron's book as a refresher and really enjoy it.

Not the definitive book that I had hoped for.

Two posts below this one the exact same book is on sale for 15 dollors unless this comes with chisel and saw I don't see how you have the nerve to sell for 68$

No vale la pena comprarlo, son fotocopias lo que te venden. Es un desperdicio de dinero. Las imágenes están borrosas y no tienen colores para distinguirse.

La edición tiene un atractivo para los que gustan de ver esquemas y dibujos a mano de herramientas. Hace una descripción de las herramientas de entallar, cepillar y aserrar en la cultura japonesa, diferentes en su uso de las occidentales. Merece la pena y es una publicación asequible.

Really great reference for the woodworker who is beginning to dive into the world of Japanese tools.

This is a basic introductory books - which is what it's meant to be. Probably too much overlap if you already have Toshio Odate's book on the same subjects.
