For a boot made in China, this is a high quality leather boot, and a classic black boot that will never go out of style and last for years. It is a take on the English riding boot, but with a higher heel. The typical non English riding boot is thick through the ankles, straight to the top, with a wide band across the top. This is more of a feminine riding boot fit, without the funky arch up the side of the knee of an authentic English riding boot. The boot shaft on this boot is stiff, like a riding boot is supposed to be, which gives the boot an elegant high quality feel to the leather and the entire fit of the boot. I ordered the size 8 M, the boot barely fit my athletic larger calves 15 1/2 inches, there was no gap at the top of the boot or on the sides, the ankle fits a bit loose, but does not bunch up, I have slender ankles and narrow feet. The boot was a bit wide for me, but with a sock it will be perfect for winter. The leather is a fine smooth full grain calf leather.What makes these boots stand out in the way of construction, is there is only one seam in the front center of the boot, with a back zip, and the leather is a continuous piece that extends to the heel. The Vamp is one seam across the top and the instep. To make a boot with less pieces of leather, is a sign of quality. The boot is also fully leather lined in typical blush colored leather, which is a sign of quality, helps the boot maintain it's shape, and is breathable, and comfortable next to the skin. The zipper is uncovered, but has a leather protector under the zipper, it seems to be well made and zips effortlessly. The leather snap tab covers the leather fob on the zipper, to keep your boot secure. The toe of the boot is an almond shape; meaning that it is not duck-shaped round, or pointed, it is a moderate rounded toe, almond shaped that will remain current forever. This is a tall length boot, it came directly under my knee in the front and in the back, but the back of the boot has a vent (slanted opening) for a proper fit. There are no ugly elastic gores in the boot for adjustable fit, so this is a good boot for thicker calves, thin legged gals will have a much looser fit. The chunk heel is a perfect height, gives weight to long skirts, and wide leg pant, but will look outstanding with leggings or straight jeans and pants. This is a grown up boot void of straps and buckles and needless adornment. The foot bed is only slightly padded, but comfortable enough. The sole of the boot is leather, but the fore foot and the entire heel is covered with smooth rubber, just what you need for icy winter walking. If you are looking for a classic black boot, this is a sure hit....It's made in China, so I don't think the original $455 price is fair, but at this price it is a steal.

These are the most beautiful boots I have ever seen. Every detail is just perfect, the design, the craftsmanship, the fit...SIZING: fits true to size. I am 9.5 in flats, sandals... 9.5 in these boots fits me perfectly, even with a medium-thick sock. So I would recommend sticking with you regular size even if you want to wear winter socks.HEEL: the heel height is perfect - it makes the boot (and your legs) look beautiful, while being super comfortable. When I have them on I cannot even feel I am wearing a 2'' heel. It really feels like wearing a flat shoe.PADDING: the sole has padding. it is not sneaker-like, but very, very decent for a leather boot. I am very picky about padding and these boots are approved.FIT: They hit me below knee (I am 5'10'', the boots measure about 17'' from arch). They perfectly fit my calf (16 1/2" circ). The ankle area wrinkles a little, just like any regular boots do - nothing extreme. Overall, the boots keep a very nice shape when on.ZIPPER: The zipper slides up smoothly and I believe that will last for years. It gives the boots such amazing effect. It looks subtle, very elegant.LOOK: They look amazing both dressed up or with jeans.These boots are really worth the $400 price tag and I expect that will last for years and years to come.Additional photos are in the Customer Images above on the right.
