Ain't Life Grand

I like this album a lot; they always surprise me with their invention and pyrotechnics. One of the great jam bands.

I am a WSP newbie. I just went to my first-ever Panic show last month and used this disc as a warm-up. It's stayed in my CD changer ever since and I probably play it start-to-finish four or five times a week now. There is some really strong playing here that gives a taste of WSP's live strengths. Of course, no studio CD can adequately capture a band's live aesthetic, but this is a good enough place to start familiarizing yourself with the WSP phenomenon. "Airplane," "Heroes," "Fishwater," and the title track have all become favorites. "Blackout Blues" and "Jack" are also really nice cuts. A bold prediction: if this CD is your first experience with Widespread Panic, it won't be your last! Enjoy.

Great band. Everyone talks about their live shows, but their studio albums are really great as well. Still amazes me how many people have never heard of them; only been around, like, 35 years or something! Do your friends and neigbors a favor - turn them on to 'Panic!

WSP's "Ain't Life Grand" is yet another solid Studio Collection, from a Band that's history is rooted in LIVE performances and touring since 1986.This solid Studio Collection, cements a collection of WSP songs that are Concerts staples."Fishwater..the title track, Litttle Kin, Jack and there first very radio friendly song Can't Get High" are included in this CD.

Really enjoy listening to this. Amazing how I find myself tapping along in a grove with the drummer. Only weak spot for me are the vocals. Adequate, but not stellar.

I have almost all of Widespread panics Albums and this one is at the top of my list. Aint Life Grand is a portrait of the Band at its original peak! Although now with the recent addition of Jimmy Herring to the band, I expect bigger and sweeter things to come. Widespread Panic is always a great buy if your looking for some of the best Jam Band, southern fried rock around.
