Check the size ...
What is there to say about a fountain pen cartridge? Well a surprising amount ...First of all, does it fit? These cartridges are described as 'International" size - but there are two international standards. What I regard as the "old" standard have a outside diameter of 4mm on the part that fits into the pen, the "newer" standard being tad over 5mm. Some pens designed for the old standard will accept the newer ones, but most won't - and the reverse is never true... so make sure you have the right ones! Once yu have seen the two together, you will have no difficulty telling them apartThe new ones are (generally) larger overall - with an overall length of 50mm compared to 38mm, and thus hold a significant amount more ink.Having sorted that out, these Jinhao cartridges are definitely in the "new" category (is it that my "old" and "new" should be "Western" and "Eastern" - I don't know!).That brings us to "do they work" - most definitely YES - and very well.I pulled together a selection of pens of different makes that were compatible with this type of cartridge and popped a different colour in each. All six colours (Black, Blue, Red, Green, Purple and Orange) flowed beautifully in their respective pens - so assuming that they all have similar characteristics, this bodes well for them working well with pretty much any pens that you are likely to use them with. As they have lots of ink, and are unfortunately not compatible with my first choice pens, it is likely to be a long time before any of them run out...Any reservations? The only reservation I would have is that the orange is not a deep colour, and would not really be suitable for writing with a fine nib - the result would be difficult to read. It is very good for other applications though - even with a thicker nib - good for example for highlighting / underlining in books etc, where the colour is not deep enough to obstruct reading of the original text.In short then - make sure they fit, and enjoy them!

Lovely colours, but don't fit any of my pens.
Nice colours, but sadly the cartridges do not fit any of my pens. So I've had to transfer the ink to other cartridges which has been a pain, but they won't be going to waste.

As Expected
These are International Standard (IS) cartridges, meaning 2.6mm fitting, and can be long or short. These are long.I ordered all black. I've had colours before - orange is good for art perhaps, but not great for letterwriting or shopping lists. These cartridges fit my Dikawen, Baoer, Jinhao, Duke, Moonman and Montblanc fountain pens. They also fit Herbin and Schneider rollerballs that accept cartridges. Montblanc cartridges are slightly fatter than I.S. so they can get stuck in some pens, but IS cartridges always fit Montblanc pens. There was resistance with the Dikawen. A tight fit. I stand the cartridge upright on a table, fit the nib unit in place and press it down on the cartridge. That's easier than doing it in the air. Hero - these cartridges fit regarding the 2.6mm fixing hole, and fit models such as 7031, 7035, but some pens are so thin they need Hero cartridges or converters. Platinum are proprietary - only their cartridges will fit their pens. Parker, Yiren and Aihao use 3.4mm fitting. One reviewer said the cartridges were tiny and that his Jinhao pens took big Parker cartridges. Nonsense. These are the longer IS cartridges of standard IS width. The reviewer is confused.I can't find anything wrong with these cartridges, and was pleasantly surprised that they were long, after reading dodgy reviews. I notice these cartridges are cheaper than others offered on Amazon. I'm ignoring the 25 in a bag ones which a lot of people, including me, can't pierce or start no matter how hard they are pushed.

Make sure you check with existing ink cartridge before trying as neck was too narrow and damaged my pen

Good ink cartridges packed into 5 unit boxes.
Usually when we order ink, it arrives loose packed in a plastic bag, which we then have to find a container for or the cartridges end up all over the drawer. When this product arrived, we were quite surprised that they were packed into 5 cartridge boxes. This makes for neat and easy storage and I rather wish other companies would think like this. The cartridges fit the Jinhao pens perfectly, although they do require quite a bit of pressure to pop the seal on the cartridge. Ink is good quality and flows well without spotting or pooling. Colour consistency is also good.

Not Universal Cartridges
I bought these cartridges because they were advertised as universal. They are not! My pen, bought from a reputable pen specialist, is definitely universal. So it is not my pen at fault. I couldn't check them until a few weeks after delivery as my pen had just begun a new cartridge. Only now has it come to light that these cartridges are not what was advertised and now I am out of pocket.
