Here is the long and short of it.Its basically a windshield sunshade with straps. It can be folded and stored pretty easily and is very portable. It would work best in a station wagon or car and not an SUV with very high ceilings like my wifes 2002 Highlander.Will it work ? Yes and NO.It works for me because I have relatively well trained dogs and if they see a physical boundary they will not cross it. If you have big dogs or dogs that are hyper active or unruly, this will most likely not work for you.It can be jumped over and mauled down. If you are looking for something to stop a big or unruly dog, I suggest getting the dividers made out of metal bars.Overall, not a bad product, as I mentioned, it works for me, but may not work for a lot of people depending on the attitude and training of your dog.

This is the second time I've bought this divider. First one was bought a couple years ago. The reason I had to replace it was due to my husbands need to move his seat back and forth due to our substantial differences in leg length so eventually the wear and tear ripped the fabric. I bought this same one because I was quite satisfied with the original. I was slightly disappointed when I saw the cute colorful Paw emblem shown in the photo was not on my product. Was this enough reason for me to return it, no. But I was happily looking forward to seeing it in my rearview mirror every day. Also, the bottom has a snap closure which I very much like, sadly the top does not. You have to loop and thread it to secure it tightly. Can't understand why they could not do the top as they did the bottom.

Overall we like the barriers. Two improvements they could make is to use faster buckles instead of the older 'thread-through the buckle' style fasteners. In addition, (because I did not research this well enough--my bad) the lower 3/4 of the barrier is solid fabric. One of the vehicles we installed the barriers in (we had bought 2) has rear-facing A/C-heating vents for the back seat passengers. The fabric blocks the vents no matter how high or low we position the barrier. I will probably end up cutting holes in the barrier to allow the vents to work.all in all--the product is well made and is adjustable--but if you have the vent set-up like we have--it probably won't work unless you plan to take it out and in every time you have pets and/or two-legged passengers…..

This is a good divider. I only gave it 3 stars because 1) does not have a cut out for the backseat vent and 2) I don't want to tie them to the seat posts because both of my front seats are electric and don't want to take a chance they would get caught. Therefore, I just put the bottom straps in the pockets in back of the front seats. The only reason I bought this one is because it's the only one I could find that is sturdy on top and my dog could not push it down as he could, say, with the netted ones.

3 stars because I'm sure it would be perfect for a small dog. However, I have a 41 pound pit bull who is obsessed with sitting on my lap, and he pushed the top down and stepped right over it within the first minute. The material is wayyy too flimsy for a larger dog.I sewed a curtain rod across the top to make it more sturdy, and now it works perfectly. So that's something to try if you don't want to spend a lot on the metal bar barriers.

I just received the Pet Barrier and it came promptly which I love ordering from Amazon. The downside of this product as I put it in my car is that I have the cooling/heat vent right there in the middle of the shield which blocks the flow. I have three small dogs one of which loves the arm rest and the fact that he can't even see what's going on up front is not good. If the shield had a mesh center like it does on top I would give it five stars, The concept is really good will have to test it with him in the back seat to see how he reacts but I might just have to improvise on the product myself to make it better. Too bad they don't offer a few different styles to meet the needs of different breeds of dogs.

I would love this product if not for one thing, they put quick disconnects on the bottom straps but not the top. It would be such an easy fix for their product and it would be worth paying a couple extra dollars for it. Drove from NC to MI with the dog and the trip was pleasurable because the dog stayed in the back and we didn't have to keep an arm up between the seats.

This product is OK. It is not a bad product, but I don't love it. Most of the time it works great. When I was out of my car, my puppy actually jumped over it and ate everything in the front seat. I was so mad. I like that it has pockets and it isn't distracting to me at all. Overall, a very sturdy product.
