Bait and Switch
Buyer Beware, Seller's advertisement states they are selling a sleeping bag with 800 power light goose down. I ordered this item on 3-22-2019, at that time there was only 3 reviews of this item, the first 2 were favorable, the last 1 was negative. Even though the price was a little low for this type item, I have run across some very good deals in the past so I decided to take a chance. My mistake, as you can see by the attached photos, the bag is stamped by manufacturer as 700g hollow cotton, not 800g power light goose down. I have decided to edit my original review, first off when I removed the sleeping bag from the stuff sack, I noticed that there was no neck baffle as stated, there is no storage pocket as stated. You will notice that the picture posted by another customer shows that the bag doesn't have any quilt or box stitching, there are no vertical or horizontal stitching, when you lay the blanket flat on the floor, you can separate the green ny lon top from the gray nylon bottom. The only filling material of the bag you can feel, actually feels like a single piece of continuous cotton batting sown around the perimeter of the bag. The seller states there are 280g of high quality white goose down as a filler for the bag, 280g converts to 9.88 ounces, he also states this is an ultra light bag weighing 1.28 pounds. Now if you take the 700g hollow cotton stated on stuff sack, that converts to 24.69 ounces, now add those 2 numbers together and you come up with 34.57 ounces which is 2.57 pounds, not 1.28 pounds. If there was 280g of goose down in this bag, it would all be laying in the bottom of the bag due to the lack of blanket stitching across the bag, you will also notice in the other picture, there is no loft in the blanket. Since the best down you can buy has fill ratings of 850 to 950 or 1,000. any rating of 800 fill would require a premium of $100 or $200 payment or more, not $30. I also looked up several sleeping bags listed on Amazon with a minimum listing of 350g of hollow cotton and you will find that they start selling for $130. Now, I don't exactly remember the formula, but it is actually referenced as cotton hollow yarn, something similar to 42 Tex CO80/PVA 20, a process formulated in Japan known as SpinAir. I would tell anybody looking for a down blanket to continue their search, you should not have a problem finding a better blanket.
