Crooked: An appealing premise which ultimately disappoints
Interesting premise and definitely some unique characters that are not often seen in theater. So me moderately effective and naturalistic dialogue, particularly between the two young characters. However, ultimately lacked depth and had no clear purpose or theme. Not enough exploration of characters to support a "character study" theme which make the structure and style of the play seem thin and without a strong focus. Amusing enough and provides fairly decent roles for teen actors, which is rare, but absolutely ruined by an abrupt , violent, ending that is wildly out of synch with the tone of the rest of the play. A blatant attempt at shock for shock's sake without the clarity of meaning to give it true emotional power. A disappointment.

Interesting short play
Kept this in my car for reading on the spot. It was thought provoking at times. But fairly obvious. The themes are blatantly presented, with little left to interpret.

Beautiful Play
I wouldn't recommend it for a child below 13, but it is an AMAZING play that really captures what it means to be an adolescent struggling with life's difficulties.

Not for my purposes
I was looking for something to share in a conservative public high school---to use for forensics. This isn't it. Language and sexual references aren't appropriate for my needs.

I love her writing! These characters disturb and delight.

Deeper than it appears
This full-length play in one act covers a lot of territory: sexuality, religion, family. What began as a rather simple story about a mother and daughter in distress evolved into a beautiful meditation on family and loss. It was also surprisingly funny! I would reccommend it to anyone looking for a play with complex relationships and characters. Particularly good for college aged actors.

Beautiful
This play perfectly captures the heartbreak of adolescence, and of parenting an adolescent. The characters are beautifully drawn and remarkably vivid. CROOKED is hilarious in spots, but always in a way that feels truthful to the characters. This play provides a wonderful opportunity for three actresses and an engrossing, thought-provoking evening for just about any audience. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
