Not great, not bad = okay.
I bought this because I read one of those lists with a title like "25 books you'll wish never end". Well that was BS. This article claimed the characters were so well put together and the story so lovely that your eyes would fill with tears when you turned to the last page. Not at all. Not to say this is a terrible book - it isn't. It's okay. But it's certainly not a book you curl up with for hours at a stretch, plumbing the depths of various characters and plot lines. It's a very simple story with an admittedly ingenious hook - that many people in Kaufman's world have superpowers. Although, the 'super' powers are actually just regular abilities, driven up to an extreme level. Buy this book if you have an afternoon to kill or a long train journey to get through. Don't buy it expecting literary wows on every page.

very cute
I actually liked it very much... I could not stop reading it, so I kind of zipped through it.. It hit the nail on the head about how you can label people and was quite an eye opener , as I often thought these things about people, but never put them into words.. bravo,I would read it again.. very smart and very ...oh so clever!!!!

Great story
I really loved this plot and the authors writing style. I wish that the author had taken this idea and made it into a full novel instead f a short story since it was really interesting. The only thing that I didn't like about the book was that at the end of some of the chapters the author added lists of other superheroes that had nothing to do with the actual story. I thought was a distraction and took me out of the story a little.

Interesting way to read
It's unlike any point of view you've ever read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a quick read that you could finish in an afternoon.

Disappointed...
Not at all what I was expecting and was rather disappointed. It was highly recommended but is basically a tale of random superheroes with not so super of powers. Could have just been published as a list of awkward heroes or something. The actual story part of it is basically a short story that has been stretched by adding a bunch of the awkward hero names/powers

Not quite as lifechangingly awesome as the reviews
A very interesting and though-provoking read. I would've liked more plot with the superheroes rather than just introductions. Nonetheless, they are an interesting commentary on life and people. I recognized several folks I know, and saw a glimpse of myself.

Strange, clever and annoying!
Although I can see it is clever and the Superheroes are based on character traits I was not particularly entertained by it. I actually found it quite weird and irritating. I was glad it was a short story and I didn't have to spend too much of my life on it. When I finished reading and put the book down it left me feeling - annoyed!

This could have been a new James Thurber story
Super Charming. Super Romantic. Super Short Read. Absolutely loved this very quick read. The characters are all flawed and wonderful and have super powers (except for Tom) and will all remind you of people you know (and yourself). The author's style reminded me a bit of my favorite Thurber stories. I'd love to see this as an animated short.

all of you that said that you loved the Spooner and his was the best superpower
May I just start by saying: all of you that said that you loved the Spooner and his was the best superpower... You're crazy! He was a creepy guy that dumped his girlfriend when he realised that she was as lonely as everyone else. What was he expecting? In this day and age you can be surrounded by people and be the loneliest you've ever been (says someone battling depression...).I really liked the nostalgic feel to Someday's story and that of the love between Blue Overcast and Orange Exile.Now... Did I like the book? What do you think? My review is almost as big as the novel 'cause I can't stop gushing about it.Moral of the story: Love is difficult and requires work, but if you're willing to fight for it, it can be... perfect!

We are all superheroes
I knew nothing about this author before reading this work and so genuinely believed that this was a superhero novel (to which I am particularly partial). However, this is more subtle than that - this short novella details the 'superheroics' of ordinary folks - where their superhero power is based on the one thing they can do better than any 0ther person. Since most people can do something better than other people, by this definition, we are all superheroes (and all special). And, of course, this is true - we are all different and special in one way or another.Similarly, the problems encountered by Tom (who has suddenly become invisible to his wife "Perf" (the Perfectionist), are problems likely encountered by all married couples at one stage or another. At some point, you get so used to each other that you start taking each other for granted and stop seeing each other properly.I liked this book - it was thoughtful and easy to read.

Couldn't give it anything less than 5 stars
I'd previously read Kaufman's "The Tiny Wife" and really enjoyed it, and despite the fact that this is a very short book I've had it sitting unread on my kindle for ages. When I did finally open it, it didn't last very long. It's certainly quirky, as folk have noted. Based on the tiny wife I'm assuming this is Kaufman's style now. I don't really get why some reviewers write it off as shallow and overly twee though. Kaufman has the imagination I wish I had, and uses it to reflect the human condition back at us. I'm really not one for "sweet" stuff, but in no way did I find this overly saccharine. The "superheroes" all have very ordinary "powers", some which are magical in some way, others which are simply normal personality traits, yet Kaufman succeeds in showing us the whole of humanity through this small collection of unlikely heroes.

Quirky and Sweet
This book is very small in size but very big in smiles. It's a quirky read, at once heart-breaking and adorable, realistic and ridiculous. It has child-like innocence but at the same time, the breadth of experience in failed relationships (romantic and other) of the average adult.Characters are summarised into superheroes, each with their own attribute, mostly used as metaphors but sometimes comic. We follow Tom, who has no super power but lives in a world populated by superheroes, as he tries to get the love of his life to see him once more, having become invisible to her at the vengeful will of another superhero vying for her affections.I read this in hard-copy format years ago and thought I'd rediscover it on Kindle. At a fiver, the value isn't great in view of the short length, but you wouldn't want it any longer. I would recommend sampling first or catching it in a sale, as due to its quirkiness it probably isn't for everyone.

Quirky and inventive
This short story (about 100 pages or an hour of your life) is an inventive story of a man who isn't a superhero but is surrounded by those that are. His wife (The Perfectionist) cannot see him and he has the duration of a flight to Vancouver from Toronto to try and break the hypnotic effect Hypno has placed on her and save their marriage.Peppered with flashbacks and descriptions of other superhero's with mundane super powers, or ones that are off the wall, this is an inventive read that sometimes feels a little too impressed with its own inventiveness. However, as a short story its the perfect length to tell its short tale without becoming annoying. The ending might strike some as twee but its a sweet tale with enough in there to move beyond its quirky trappings and actually deliver a worthwhile and rewarding read.
