Jacky Ickx: Mister Le Mans, and Much More

Really good insight into the career of Jacky Ickx. This was a magnificent era for motor racing. It was also a very dangerous era with far too many fatalities. What I like about the book is the conversations with the other drivers and people involved in the sport and their opinion on Jacky. He was a marmite character - love or not keen and his views on aspects of safety were occasionally controversial. As a driver he was top flight and should have been World Champion at least once. Then there is his record at Le Mans. Great book and well worth the read. Only a slight niggle that photographs of his early career could be better. Overall well worth purchasing.

This is the best book around, in English language, ever published about Jacky Ickx.However, text wise, this is nothing more than a painful race-by-race description of Ickx's great career, with absolutely no inside about personal thoughts, family, team inside dynamics, etc.The photos and printing quality are great, as one is led to expect from this kind of coffee table book.At the end of the book, there is an index with all his results.
