Petunia learns the importance of being able to read
First published in 1960 it is still a fun read for kids today with good lessons and emphasizes why it is a good idea to be able to read with simple cute illustrations.

Brings back memories of book mom ordered.
Has a good lesson. Just because you own a book doesn’t mean you’ve learned it’s wisdom. Pretending to be smart got her in trouble until she actually read the book.

Classic
What a fun book. Illustrations are funny, story is charming. A little long for the younger ones but our family loves it.

This was one of my favorite books as a kid, and so it remains a favorite! Wonder message and very well presented.

So glad to pass this one on to a new generation!
A favorite growing up- and I fell in love with a vintage New Yorker cover years later by the same artist- didn’t realize it was by the same person until I looked up the name. There’s something wonderful about oversized hard bound children’s books with great art and stories that stays with you.

Lovely Book
Petunia is off on another adventure. She is one silly goose. A great lesson for kids is built into every one of Petunia's books, and adults could learn something as well!

Wonderful Book
Petunia teaches us a lesson that just by having a book we do not posses knowledge.

My daughter loved it!
What a wonderful book. I bought it with the intention of reading it to my daughter. She couldn't wait and read it herself. As she finished it she took a deep breath and (to herself) said,"That was a good book!"Then she held it to her chest and smiled. Any book that causes this reaction in a 6 year old is highly recommended in my opinion.

Great moral for adults and children
Petunia eventually learns that you have to read the book to be wise, not just possess it. Even adults have shelves of unread works, so the message is universal. The illustrations are simple and effective and there is just the right amount of text for bedtime.

Le livre est super, je l'ai acheté parce que j suis trés fan de cet illustrateur, français en origine, mais malheuresement le livre est en anglais et je n'ai pas vu ça avant...

Lovely story and illustrations
I bought this book a year ago for my 2yr old daughter however she has only now started to really enjoy it. It is a funny story that emphasises the importance of learning before giving others advice. Best suited to 3yrs+ as the story is a little long for those under 3yrs. Beautifully illustrated, a nice bedtime read.

I loved this book as a child and did onwned several copies, only because my mom had to read it to me so many times that the pages actually weared away. I stumbled accross this book again now and thought what a great classic. I just had to have it! fantastic read for kids.
