Practice Makes Perfect English Sentence Builder (Practice Makes Perfect Series)

I just got this book today, and it is in excellent condition. The description said used, like new. To me, it looks brand new. Clean and tight, no creases, or rips in the cover. The pages are bright white and mark-free from front to back. Looking forward to using this book. Thank you Language Quest!

Not impressed with this book. I would advise not to buy. Here's why.I got as far as the exercises of Chapter 1. The author asks questions about verb tenses, then gives the answer in the back of the book. Sometimes the questions are not specific enough, such as:1d. For "Thomas found," give "Future" tense.Which "Future" is this question referring to? (What is the question asking specifically?) Online, I discovered there are four "Futures":Simple Future: Thomas will find.Continuous Future: Thomas will be finding.Future Perfect: Thomas will have found.Perfect Continuous Future: Thomas will have been finding.In the back, being the answer is "Thomas will find," the question is asking for the Simple Future. I had to go online to match the right question to the given answer, like on Jeopardy. A pain.I tried more questions, and the answers were no more reliable. I feel this book is sloppily organized. I shan't continue. The book asks questions that are imprecise. And when the questions ask precise enough questions, some of the answers are incorrect. I can't have that.

I teach ESL to Spanish speaking students. I've gone through many different ESL books trying to find the best tool. In my experience, I've found the Practice Makes Perfect books to be among my favorites. They're written in a workbook format and include many sentence writing exercises. I use them all for my students.

This is great for fluent students who want to polish English, but not for new students of English.

This book will be great for anyone that struggle with English grammar and extremely helpful! This book helped me to pass TOEFL test (it's recognized worldwide): http://www.ets.org/toefl. There are a lot of exercises and examples to practice in this book.

I have purchased this quality paperback in quantity for years, furnishing copies to my struggling freshman writers, especially those for whom English is a second language. Would recommend for any English teacher with similar students or for anyone interested in improving their basic syntax skills.....

My ESL use this this book and they like it. My advance ESL students use this book to understand sentence structure and how to write better sentences. I find the book helpful with planning my lessons and giving homework assignments to my students.

Very very good

I love this book in the sense that it represents a summary chart of almost all sorts of English sentence types, and in this sense this book is easy to consult and the table of contents allow to retrieve at will what one can look for. It is a good thing that somehow book edition makes academic contents turn up and offer what is looked after at will and rapidly. This is so much what it should be for the Web and with books too because people at work, students, teachers and people in general need.

Un libro que te guía para que trabajes todo el abanico de frases en inglés. En todas las formas verbales. De austero formato -papel reciclado, sin laminas, ni fotos...- pero un material para que trabajo las frases con soluciones que te perfeccionan. Perfecta relación calidad precio. Si haces todas las frases acabas con un nivel altísimo de grammar y writing.

I don't really recommend this book and would just use it as a reference. Students find doing this type of exercises boring although I feel it'd help them a lot, I probably won't use it too much on regular ESL people who aren't ready for advanced academic writing yet. This book may be for college ESL students who need the advanced exercises but lack of strong English skill.
