My Greatest Defeat: Stories of hardship and hope from motor racing’s finest heroes

A well written book that emphasizes the fact that rising to the top of any profession requires the drive and determination necessary to overcome the obstacles that life, naysayers, and our own errors will place on our path.

These stories elicited by Will Buxton's thoughtful interview style reveal more about the drivers I have admired than any biography that touts their achievements on track. The problem I have is that the real power comes from the way they overcame their adversity with clear determination to prevail. There is also a morality or sense of doing right to correct a wrong in most of their stories. Each story stands as a look into the heart and soul of these men who have achieved the pinnacle of their profession and teaches us much about living our lives to the fullest.That is why I believe a better title would be: "Resilience: How I overcame my greatest defeat."

Good book but mistitled. This book of driver's interviews is not about their worst defeats on the track but their overcoming personal adversity in their careers. A few are real eye openers.

Thank you Will. If you are a motorsports fan this is a must read. Even if not a motorspirts fan a great human interest read. Made my admiration and respect for drivers even deeper. Shows their struggles and triumphs as humans. Enjoyed the Damon Hill chapter the most. How he was out to honor his late father Graham Hill. Well written.

Will Buxton's premise for the book is excellent and has allowed him to obtain stories and information from racers that are not often heard. Well done. Will is very knowledgeable which gives him great perspective.

I dont know what else to really say! I wanted a book and got a book, no rips tears, missing pages.

I loved this. These are men with extraordinary stories to tell about being the greats of motorsport. The stories are insightful and thought provoking and goes way beyond raving drivers taking about losing - parts are incredibly emotional and for sure, you might know some of the races and incidents mentioned, but they’ve probably never been told in this way before. Highly recommend!
