The Original Butter Bell crock by L. Tremain, Fleur de Provence Collection - Garnet Red

I had wanted to try keeping butter out of the refrigerator for some time, but I'd been a bit wary. So I read about butter bells somewhere (I can't remember where) and bought this one. It looks nice in my red-accented kitchen, keeps the butter fresh (allegedly for two weeks, but the butter never lasts that long, so I can't say for sure) and soft enough to spread easily. The only thing you have to do is pack the butter firmly into the bell and change the water in the bottom every couple of days. This butter bell is easy to wash, too, between fillings of butter.

This was delivered promptly, but this is the first time I have had a bad delivery from Amazon. The crock is ceramic and easily broken. Instead of front door or garage delivery it was left on top of mailbox at the front of road. It had fallen on the ground and we did not see it laying in the road. Found it when we backed out of our drive. No one from any company has ever delivered a package in 35 year in this way.

Love having usable butter. The French are so smart to have invented this. A little water in bottom container and butter pressed into top is preserved at room temp. No more out of the refrigerator butter

I love this. It’s so pretty and I love a place to keep my butter. I have one small issue with it. It says to put in 1/3 cup of water. That’s too much as the butter falls out. I’ve tried every combination of water and the butter still slides down into the water. Maybe just a few drops is good enough?

I wanted a product that would allow my butter to be outside of the refrigerator but would not have a bunch of crumbs on the butter. The cold water does appear to extend the life of the butter. Overall good product. I like that it is machine washable.

Always left my butter dish out to keep my butter soft, but it wasn't very attractive looking, so I found this little cutie and love it as it looks very nice sitting out on my counter, plus it keeps my butter so soft and fresh.

Beautiful, good size, and great quality. Bought the red one for myself and it is gorgeous. I sent the black one as a gift and it is really pretty too. These are French on one side and English on the other. If you want the butter to stay in the bell, fill it with room temperature butter and smoosh it down very, very well until it's completely full and tight. Butter will not pop out, and stays fresh. Make sure you change the water for fresh cold water every few days.

I had been looking for a way to keep my butter from going bad while sitting on the counter. This was a wonderful find. Keeps butter fresh & spreadable. And it looks so much nicer than a traditional butter dish. Very satisfied.

Cute little gadget. I don’t use butter often, so keeping it out all the time made it go bad. Not anymore! Amazing contraption.

I won't dock it marks for Buttergate. I love it. It's perfect. It arrived promptly.
