User beware
I bought this for one reason only: to see whether I can charge or power the MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) via a USB-C power source rather than Apple's MagSafe 2 85W power adapter. The answer: Sort of.The good: yes, it does work with my MBP.The bad 1: this requires a *SINGLE-PORT* USB-PD 60W charger. I've tried multi-port chargers; it behaves erratically. The bad 2: these kinds of adapters and cables are NOT USB-IF compliant - but I already knew this going in.The ugly: okay, this part is extremely serious and is the entire reason I'm giving this only two stars. These adapters and cables lock the USB-C power source to 20V the moment they're plugged in. Upon removal, the power source *stays* at 20V. This will not be reset without a hard power reset on the power source. What does this mean to you, the user? Easy - remember Benson Leung's run-in with the infamous Surjtech cable that transmitted 20V straight into his Twinkie and Chromebook Pixel? Now imagine that 20V going into your phone. The USB-C charger does not reset its USB-PD profile back to 5V when you use an USB-C to USB-A host adapter, you must physically kill the power going to the charger. How did I know this? I used a BioLite FlexLight USB Powered Flexible Light as my 'sacrificial lamb'. As soon as I plugged it in, it blew something within the product's LED PCB. One of the FlexLight's features involves the capability to be turned on/off and brightness adjustment while plugged in. The charger being stuck at 20V killed that feature on the spot. There are three ways of mitigating this problem:1. Don't use the same USB-C charger, to which this adapter/cable is connected, with anything else.2. Physically unplug the USB-C charger from its AC outlet and plug it in again.3. Use an AC power switch tap/adapter/cord e.g. GE Ultrapro, Leviton, etc., which allows you to switch the circuit on/off *at the electrical outlet*. The electrical wiring of some room switches may also function similarly. If you use these cables/adapters, remember that you must kill the charger's power *before* using it to charge anything else.

Surprisingly, it works!
I was skeptical about this because of all the negative reviews regarding USB-C to Magsafe adapters. I purchased this and an Aukey 100 watt USB-C power adapter to power my 2015 MacBook Pro with AMD GPU. I've run stress tests and bench marks. I've run folding at home constantly for a few weeks now. I've connected and disconnected it several times. It seems to work and I'm happy with it. However, when I travel, I'm still going to bring my Apple charger just in case.TL;DR: Didn't think it would work. Surprised it did.

Great alternative to stock Apple charger.
Bought this for my late 2012 MacBook Pro since the original cable trailed. I didn’t want to spend $80 on another apple charger which would frail after a couple of years so bought this adapter. It caps out at 65w charging power (as noted by my laptop) even though my USBC power block is capable of 100w charging from a single USBC port. The stock Apple charger topped out at 85w. This it’s not a big deal as 65w is enough to charge the laptop while it’s in use. The charging times between the stock and this did not increase by any significant amount. I’m happy with this purchase as an alternative to Apples Charger. Please note, you will need a USBC PD power brick capable of charging at a high watt for this adapter to work. Forget phone USBC chargers, find a PD charger capable of delivering at least 80w from a SINGLE port - often manufacturers quote TOTAL watts across all ports so look at specs and ensure the single port wattage is high enough.

WORKS! with MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014)
*Updated review, cord works with a different USB-C cord for me! If it initially does not work, try a different USB-C! The USB-C cord I initially used was not working (came with 60w PD Anker Powerbank), tried a USB-C that came with a 45w PD Anker Powerbank and it works!*Purchased to get around having to bring my big MagSafe brick everywhere. Used it with a PD charger that supports 20v 3a charging as well as 20.3v 3a charging.Seems to be of good quality and build but have not had it for too long.Comes with a little carrying case which is nice.

Wouldn't charge at all
Sadly had to return this. I tried this with multiple chargers, laptops, and USB-C cables, but it wouldn't charge. The magsafe light would come on briefly and then turn off, then the light would occasionally blink. It wouldn't charge a MacBook Air, nor a MacBook Pro. In each case the behavior was the same, with the blinking light and no charging.

Good for 1 month then keeps disconnecting
There was a short honeymoon period of 1 month where it worked flawlessly. Then it stops. I feel like the cable connections inside get loose with each use. Maybe if you were to put the whole cable in a resin mold so only the plugs stick out then the cable quality would remain unaffected with each use but in the current state of bending, this cable is not charging my laptop anymore. The led on the plug goes from green to orange (charging) to off, then cycles again. I now need my laptop for a very important long meeting that I'm preparing for and this cable isn't charging my laptop, I'm screwed.

No workie after a couple of months
Stopped working ~ 45 - 60 days after we started using it. Confirmed the USB-C cable and charger being used work fine to power USB-C devices... but this adapter stopped powering our macbook air.Made in China crap

Not 85
So I bought this because I would like to have any length or quality of cable for charging my Macbook Pro and this product said it would do 85W. Sadly after connecting the charger to my macbook it reported only 60W. I am using a Spigen PE2006UJ which is 100W and a Nekteck USBC-CCGEN2-1M which is 100W compatible as well. Also I wish the cable had a little nicer feel in the hand with silicone cable sleeve. The Type C receptacle could also be improved with a stronger connection to the cable.Other than the previous cons I have with the cable it is pretty nice and will be nice as a last resort cable in my cable encyclopedia.
