With the fallout from the financial crisis still clearing, it's hard to tell what is causing what. But after reading this excellent book, I was able to understand what really causes property-driven financial crises, as well as the lingering vulnerabilities in the US real estate market. It is now crystal-clear to me that the US economy is dancing on thin ice and is most likely headed towards another fiasco because of extreme debt.Skin in the game flows very smoothly and is an enjoyable read. Elgonemy has the unique ability to explain complex concepts in simplified terms. The perfect first book to read if you want to learn the risks and rewards of real estate investments!

Good overview of the mortgage crisis and ways of preventing another bubble...I was looking for a hint of where things are going from here and got a reasonable hypothesis. So much is uncertain still except that those providing mortgages must have skin in the game and that point was well made.

Skin in the Game clearly explains how the growth of derivatives and securitization and their interplay with subprime mortgages in an environment of complacency caused the financial crisis.Mr. Elgonemy demonstrates that we still live in a debt-addicted world propped-up by a “methadone fix” of short-term solutions that will not resolve the looming risks in the US real estate market. After reading Skin in the Game, I realized that ten years after the financial crisis America still does not have a healthy housing market. Beneath all the debt and hyper-asset-price increases, the US economy is definitely vulnerable.I highly recommend this superb book "Skin in the Game", because it explains complex concepts in layman’s terms.

A must read for all interested in today's real estate market. The author provides a great insider view of the industry, and also breaks down a very complicated business into bitesize chapters that can be easily understood. I highly recommend.
