ADJ HT FLOOR LOCK/8-10 INCH CASTERS

This adjustable floor lock works amazingly well.For those that do not know what this is and have come across this page thinking what the heck... What this device is meant to do is be installed on any movable item, say a cart, tool chest, rolling table, etc. When you want that item to remain in position without being moved, say by an accidental bump, you step on the large silver pedal. The black rubber pad is then extended to the floor surface where is provides a frictional force that prevents the cart from moving. It is not used as a jack sort of speak but rather just puts a foot down to prevent movement. Think of it like a skateboard. You're standing on the skateboard and when you do not want to roll around you put your foot down, you're not lifting the board off the ground but rather providing an anchor point.Anyway, this adjustable height floor lock works extremely well. A simple step on the silver pedal extends the rubber foot to the floor and locks in place. Once locked a light step on the red release lever and the foot retracts allowing the cart etc. to move. The rubber foot is attached, basically to a threaded rod, which allows you to adjust the height of the rest position relative to the floor. Very secure action and stable.Now you may be thinking "well I have locking casters so I don't need this", well you're wrong and here's why. When you lock the wheel of a locking caster you are still not preventing the caster from swiveling. A bump to the cart can cause the cart to swivel on the caster. This adjusting floor lock prevents that from happening.One word of caution, this floor lock is huge. Vestil makes a few different sizes so check out the specifications.

This is an absolutely fantastic and well-made adjustable height floor lock. I ordered it for a cart and ended up returning it because I did not realize how sturdy and how heavy-duty this floor lock was. The return has nothing to do with the quality of the lock. It has to do with the fact that the card I was going to use it on did not need something as robust as this adjustable floor lock.It weighs approximately 10 pounds. Solid metal. The spring itself is somewhat stiff and to depress it and get the pad to engage takes a fair amount of weight. If you put it on a lightweight card, you'll upset the cart before the spring depresses.If you put this on any heavy card and are looking for absolutely a well-made, sturdy, heavy-duty and extremely well manufactured product, I would not hesitate to recommend this one.

Very solid and well built. I bought two of these to hold in place a 900 lb. welding table. Once both are engaged the table stays put as if it were bolted to the floor.
