The Artist's Guide to Drawing Animals: How to Draw Cats, Dogs, and Other Favorite Pets

More of anatomy lessons than anything. I was hoping for more hands-on examples, but most of the examples have like 3 steps and boom, the entire thing is done. So bummed, cause I was hoping this would give me some great insight into drawing animals. I'd definitely recommend something else, especially for beginners.

I got this as a christmas gift for my sister. My sister loves to draw and has been a pretty good artist for years. She asked for some drawing and colored pencil books for christmas. I saw this book in the local book store and in my amazon search. So i purchased this on amazon. The directions and illustrations are wonderful and there are many different animals in different poses to learn how to draw. She drew a picture of a horse's head and showed me the picture. The detail is amazing. I think this book helped giver her pointers on how to really refine and detail her drawings. I also got her a book on how to color in animals with colored pencils (Realistic Pet Portraits in Colored Pencil by Anne Flood). That book has beautiful color drawings and i'm waiting to see what my sister will color in with that book. I recommend The Artist's guide to drawing animals for anyone who wants to make more detailed drawings.

This book will make me draw animals ! I dont know how to draw animals at all but this one will be the perfect guide ! I really recommend it for who ever wants to draw pets especially cats and dogs , it has cats dogs horses goats , sheep , cattle , alpacas , llamas , pigs , cows , bulles , Rodents , mice , rats , hamsters , gerbils , guinea pigs , chinchillas , Rabbits , ferrets , birds and lizards (cold blooded animals) I cant write it all its a lot XD but Im happy getting this book

Purchased this as a Christmas present for my 6-year old who loves horses and is an avid equestrian. She loves it! She turned right to the page with the horse illustrations and started sketching.....then added a sketch of herself on the horse! The author shows the simple steps to achieve a beautiful animal illustration. Many animals are featured. Great for both the novice and advanced artist. Would highly recommend!

My 10 year old daughter is an aspiring artist. She has recently gotten into drawing animals and this was a good book to help her along her artist path.

I got this for my pre-teen who loves to draw. She saw this at her art class and wanted to have one for her. It's a nice book.

Bought this for 12 year old niece who liked to "draw animals." After less than a month, they now look almost like sketches instead of kid's drawings. She loved it, and it's made her a better artist.

Just what my friend wanted.

This is okay. I guess it depends on what you want to draw. I was hoping for more design/tips on Goats because I love goats. It does have good ideas and tips for animals and it may be just perfect for the next person. I would recommend it.
