Seriously plus book
I picked this up by accident, being very interested in cooking and minority interested in the royal family - and found an absolute gem. Along with a fascinating disco on when, where and why certain recipe got added to the royal meny, the recipes themes and the community th here upon made for a fast read.

A nice picture into life an an English monarch
So insightful! French food seems popular at dinner in an English palace. A nice picture into life an an English monarch. Breakfast at 9. Elevenses at eleven. Luncheon at 1. Tea at 4:30.

Kindle version menus only in French
Kindle version has menus only in French. Though interesting, I can’t read/understand the menus as they are only given in French and the menus were my main interest in this book. Maybe this is only in the kindle version because it seems odd to me to write a book in English and not at least offer english translations of the French menus. The kindle translator doesn’t help as it either gets the words wrong (unless fish really is served with gasoline) or doesn’t translate at all and just repeats the French words. Greatly disappointed.

Do you speak French?
I was excited to read this book. The problems started with the first menu. Most of the recipes were written in French with no translation. I would have enjoyed this book if there was translation from French to English. Also, most of the pictures did not have names of who was in the photo, explanations, nor dates. So, overall, it was a disappointment for me. Wish I would have known this before I paid for the book.

Dinner at Buckingham Palace
For British Royal watchers. The Buckingham Palace cooks pay absolutely no attention to the perils of cholesterol when serving up.

Not Suitable For Vegetarians
Well as a vegetarian myself and knowing the Royal Family love huntin, shootin and fishin I knew this book would contain lots of meat and fish recipes.Unfortunately even the humble dish of bubble and squeak turned my stomach, although not as much as the turtle soup recipe did.I appreciate that some of these recipes were from the Victorian and Edwardian period but really we could have been spared the gruesome details. Not pleasant or interesting reading to be honest.Although there is little chance that I will ever be invited to 'Dinner at Buckingham Palace' after reading this book I would be tempted to turn down the invite.

Very disappointing
This is full of grammatical errors and typos. Some material is repeated and some recipes end in the middle of the cooking instructions. I found it so annoying to read that I only got 30% of the way through before sending it back for a refund. This is a great shame because it is potentially an extremely interesting subject, and if it were to be edited properly I would certainly buy it again.
