Thompson & Morgan - Flowers - Begonia Semperflorens Options Mixed - 750 Seed

This was my first time at having a go at germinating seeds. I bought some multi-purpose compost from Thompson & Morgan, followed the instructions on the back of the seed packet and sprinkled them. I covered the seed tray with cling film, stuck it in my warmish kitchen underneath the cupboard light and hoped for the best. A few days later there was no sign of life, so I squirted a fine spray of water, covered the tray with clingfilm again and left it, thinking that it probably wouldn't work and my first step into gardening would be my last. Well, I now have tiny little plants, loads of them, all healthy and green and growing like billy-o. I am a genius :) and I've saved lots of money because I won't have to buy hanging basket plants from our over-priced local nursery and I won't have to visit it during these Covid-19 times. (Sprinkled on 14 Feb. Plants appeared on about the 24th). These begonias took a bit longer to germinate than the Lobelia seeds (like the packed said they would), but I really thought that they wouldn't grow because I'd read that Begonias were difficult to grow - well, they've grown for me and I am completely new (and fairly crap/lazy) at this gardening lark - I'm trying to grow veg next! Dust like seed you must surface sow, produces minute seedlings. We are way off pricking out! Normally I dont grow bedding begonias from seed, generally I buy a pot of seedlings to prick out. But in Wales garden centres have not been open in lockdown so this stage when they would normally be available in early March has been missed so I sent for seed. They will come to provide colour late summer through to Autumn . A lot of work though with these neonates!

A make of seed, you can rely on, seeds germinate in to healthy plants, now thriving in flower borders

Too early to comment. I have sewn the seeds, but no sign of germination two weeks later. I live in hope!

As expected

These seeds were like dust you couldn't see individual seeds at all and I am used to dealing with small seeds. Tried to sow them but none of them germinated really disappointed won't be buying these again.
