I have enjoyed these pencils for years. The best!

I have used this pencil for drawing for many years. Once I found it and used it till it was too small I needed another. Finally found I could buy one just the size/strength of lead "I" need. If you have any budding artists for friends and family - do them a favor and just buy this one. The white square erasers are a good buy too

I sketch. Staedtler was always by favorite brand of pencil, couldn't find them at my local art store and bought "Kimberly" brand 2B instead, settling for what I thought was not my preference. Wanted to get my old standby so ordered these online. I was very surprised to learn these Staedtlers aren't as good as I thought! The wood is "cheaper" or lighter somehow, difficult to describe but it effects the way the pencil balances in the hand. The other brand has more dynamic range for light to heavy lines, the Staedtler 2B is acting more like HB because even making dents in the paper the line won't draw dark enough for the style I like. I might try 3B for softer lead to get the results I want; but either the Staedtler's are not as good as I remember, or they have changed, or I just like the "Kimberly" brand better and never knew what I was missing? FOUR STARS: Good lead, smooth and does not break, the paint is NICE and thick, good feeling in the fingers, BUT the lead in this 2B seems maybe a little harder than what I'm used to.

I first started using this brand of pencil when I was in art school and was exposed to all sorts of different brands in class. Many other pencils I've tried in the past felt a little too light or the wood in them felt kind of brittle or soft; these feel better in hand than other brands, so I've been using this brand exclusively with no regrets.

Came back to pencil note taking with these & not disappointed.I write maybe a page of copy each day at work so not the heaviest of user but enough.I use 2B leads because I press hard. Anything harder then 2B & I'm breaking leads all the time & although I loves me a good pencil sharpener, I don't want to use them all day.
