It calms them down but not so much that they seem like they are medicated
These work amazingly well for my dogs. They are soft chews that they think are treats. It calms them down but not so much that they seem like they are medicated.

Dog thought it was tasty, but no calming effect
My dog is a 65lb English Bulldog/German Shepherd mix that's easily startled by loud noises. Panic and anxiety can set in from something as simple as a slamming car door, garbage can lid or hammer. To make matters worse we live along busy four lane freight train tracks in a major city. Needless to say my dog can suffer from some pretty high anxiety which makes walking no fun at all. When an attack happens there's literally nothing you can do to calm him down or gain control, he simply wants to run. I'v never tried any sort of calming aid before and he can be a bit picky when it comes to his supplements so finding the right brand can often be difficult. I generally have reservations about trying new dog supplements as a large majority of popular brands are filled with questionable ingredients not to mention carrying a high price tag. I'm always willing to try a new brand so here are my thoughts on NoviPet Calming Aid for Dogs;Pros+ Soft and easily chewable, great for older dogs.+ My dog loved them as if they were a treat.+ Ingredients weren't terribly questionable.Cons- Expensive on a regular basis with larger dogs. My dog falls under the category of "Dogs 60-99 lbs should receive 2 soft chews daily." With a list price of $11.99 these would cost me $24 a month.- Packaging is slightly inconvenient and individual tablets are in non-perforated plastic sealed by a single plastic sheet. A minor gripe but I felt it was worth mentioning and you'll be using a scissors if you want to divide the pieces up.- Some confusion on storing these supplements. The packaging say refrigerate before serving but we're just keeping them out. Also, I doubt they were refrigerated in Amazon's warehouse or on the trucks when being delivered.- Had no noticeable effect on my dog after 2 weeks of use.My dog really seemed to enjoy NoviPet Calming Aid for Dogs but unfortunately they seemed to have no noticeable effect. Therefore, I obviously can't justify adding them to him daily mix of treats. Overall these supplements seemed healthy compared to some others on the market. Unfortunately, the Cons I listed would prevent me from purchasing them on a regular basis. However, if you have an older dog suffering from anxiety and hard supplements are something they can't chew then NoviPet Calming Aid for Dogs might be worth a shot. Just know that your results may vary.

Assists with some causes of anxiety and stress, there are other means, though.
Will NoviPet Calming Aid Chewable tablets help pets with some forms of anxiety? Probably. The primary active ingredients speak for themselves Chamomile extract*: 200 mg, L- Taurine*: 100 mg, Thiamine mononitarte: 100 mg, Ginger extract*: 50 mg, and L-Tryptophan: 50 mg. However, this could easily be found in other human grade supplements. My concern came from the other ingredients such as Poultry meal, Palm kernel oil, Vegetable oil, Natural chicken liver flavor, and Carnauba wax. The remaining ingredients are Brewers dried yeast, Pea protein, Lecithin, and a-tocopheryl-acetate.My German Shepherd Dogs quickly took to liking these tabs, but the same dogs are trained to take "scooby treats" which also applies to taking supplement tablets and soft gels with ease. The NoviPet chewables all dissolved in my hands, I found it was best to freeze them to limit the mess. The cost is also prohibitive when factoring in multiple large dogs who would EACH consume 2 to 3 tabs as needed.Instead if I needed a mild quietening agent to reduce anxiety or stress, I would consider brewing a light chamomile or ginger tea for myself to share with my dogs, or in a more urgent situation I would consider administering a lose dose Benedryl (up to 1mg per pound of dog's healthy body weight) which ALWAYS works well to calm our dogs, as needed. Also, realize that chronic anxiety can also be caused by a magnesium deficiency which is an often prevalent situation as well.Made in Isreal.

Three Stars, only one would taste it
With three dogs on hand, I have the opportunity to do a "taste test" on these. Only one was willing to scarf these down. The other two turned their noses up at them ... leaving them on the floor for the third one to find and eat. At six pounds, she got a GIANT dose, and it didn't slow her behavior down at all, so it didn't leave her lethargic. Most calming aids work best if given over a period of time, so I can't testify to whether this would actually help with traumatic events - there were none that happened during this time period while she was taking them. However, I noticed that she started doing a few things that as a rescue dog she had found frightening before, as if she had more confidence. While these might be a good supplement (if your dog will eat them), you do need to talk to a trainer or veterinarian if your dog is experiencing traumatic or disruptive behavior, since a combination of these and training is likely better than simply pills alone. My three stars is based on the fact that only one out of the three dogs would eat these. If they won't eat them, they won't help

Jury is still out
I have a rescue dog; an English Pointer that is terrified of thunder and fireworks (among other things) I am expecting a calming treat is something that I can give a few hours ahead of time and will provide some calming relief to "take the edge off"The real question is; Is my dog less agitated after taking NoviPet Calming Aid ? Unfortunately, it is very hard to tell how much difference it really made. For sure, Dixie was still pretty frightened with the thunder, but unless I did a lot more oservations, it was difficult to determine if she did better than if she didn't take anything. It certainly didn't hurt anything and seemed to provide some relief, but that is hardly a ringing endorsement. That is why I say the jury is stll out until I have more observations. I did feel better that I was trying something to help her deal with the thunder terror, so I guess it helped calm me a litte knowing I was doing something. :-)If your expectation is that a nervous agitated canine will become serene and calm, than this product will NOT meet those expectations.
