Five Stars
Excellent! Very well organized and clear. Very thorough, despite its small size.

Three Stars
This book is ok, but it would really help if they used a bigger font size.

More like Oxford running the gamut from A to D- "Hey, let's do a pocket book on grammar," sez the moron from Marketing (tauto?
nice try, but it's tiny in size- about the size of a smart phone, 183 pp- truly a pocket guide. Alphabetical by subject, so no chance to build up knowledge sequences. Several useful diagrams.Give the man twice the space and it could be a very useful book.

Disorganised, expensive little book.
I purchased 4 of John Seely's Oxford Grammar and Punctuation to give to less fortunate children. I was misled by the five star reviews and overall rating of four and a half stars. This book is disorganised, "scatty" and difficult to understand. It gives confusing and incomplete explanations of grammatical rules and, in some instances, no explanations. It's not suitable for students at GCSE level or anyone with a reasonable knowledge of the subject wanting to revise or improve their grammar. Grammatical fanatics at a very advanced stage may find it useful. It's necessary to be at a very high level and a grammar specialist to make sense of this book. This book does not tackle the more important, prevalent grammatical errors of today. It does not include the magnifying glass necessary to read it.I have binned all four books and decided to stick to Hugo's How to Avoid Incorrect English.

I am a proof reader and copy editor and this is one of my trusty reference books when I need to look anything up. Would not be without it.

Small, concise and informative - a great reference book for grammar and punctuation
A fantastic book. It's small, concise and covers everything you might need to know about grammar and punctuation. I self-publish a lot of books and use it all the time for reference. Highly recommended.

Ok, but....
This seems generally ok so far as a little reference book, however.....I thought I'd got the hang of the different sentence types (simple, compound, complex) until I reached the section in this book where Seely uses the following as examples of complex sentences: 'What you did yesterday was inexcusable', 'That is what I admire about Billie'. These are simple sentences, surely? Am I going mad?!

Arrived promptly and well packaged. An excellent book helping me to recap the grammar we were taught in school all those decades ago - the stuff they do not teach children these days!!!! Extremely interesting and educational (of course). Some parts are tricky due to their complexity (I had forgotten this stuff), and I am working my way through it slowly. Thank you
