Cute pithy book with beautiful illustrations
This book has everything that starts with B! I bought it for my white son as one of many books that show how people live in different parts of the world. I also wanted a book that did not have any white people in them, so my son would be used to stories outside of his race.He bonded to this book because of the beautiful illustrations of the baby with the mother, (he points to me and him) and his love of bananas and bikes, which he delights in every time we read this book. I'd highly recommend this!

Delightful story!
This book tells the story of a baby who accidentally winds up in a basket full of bananas as her brother is off to visit their baba. It's told through words that all begin with the letter B.The illustrations are lovely and it's a sweet, satisfying story despite using minimal words. My 1 year old gets excited every time we read this book, and I really enjoy reading it too!

A wonderful wonderful book!
My one year old loves reading this book. The representation is so refreshing! I highly recommend! This author and illustrator also wrote and illustrated Baby Goes to Market which is another great book! 10 out of 10 for sure!

Love everything Atinuke
This is our third Atinuke/Brooksbane book and we simply love it. It is much simpler than our other stories (Baby Goes to Market and Catch That Chicken), but still delightful. We'd prefer a board book version to a traditional hard cover.

Bellissimo
Libro meraviglioso. Contiene una storia anche se non c'è una narrazione vera e propria, ma le immagini che accompagnano la lettura permettono di seguire i protagonisti nel loro viaggio. Illustrazioni bellissime. Straordinario lo spaccato di mondo che mostra.

Beautiful twist on alphabet book
B is for Baby by Nigerian born author Atinuke is a beautiful picture book taking you through the adventures of a cheeky baby and her big brother. Each page starts with b is for... and then introduces a piece of vocabulary that matches the picture. The text continues in that simple way through the book, like many picture books it is the illustrations which tell the richer story.Beautifully illustrated by Angela Brooksbank, the story she tells to accompany the alphabet text is the journey of a cheeky baby who acts as stowaway when her brother wants to visit their grandfather. The book charts their journey through the African landscape as they travel towards their grandfather’s village, encountering a myriad of animals along the way.The language ranges from the simple B is for Big, which my 3 year old could read himself, to basket, bridge and then to richer vocabulary such as Bougainvillea, bungalow and boabab offering a wealth of opportunities for book talk and language development. It even includes the word baba for father/grandfather offering opportunities to talk about different languages. This is the second book from the illustrator/ author pairing, following on from Baby Goes to Market which won an African Best Book award, amongst other accolades. This book is perfect for babies- offering opportunities to look at other babies, which they adore, through to toddlers and on to pre-readers. I had initially bought this book to read with my 1 year old, but have found my 3 year old enjoys it the most - loving the opportunity to talk about the vibrant illustrations and their story. This is a lovely book for children and a great addition for anyone wanting to add diversity to their book collection. The book offers plenty of opportunities to talk about the similarities and differences between life in Africa and A child’s home country.
