overall good map
Overall this is a good map to get you started. This map is not detailed enough to get you through a hike, but it gives you a great idea of what trails are out there and what kind of terrain, altitude, etc you will be getting into. It is a large map - we ended up making copies of sections and then laminating them to take with us on the hikes.

One of the best widely available maps of the park
This map is absolutely fantastic and a must have if you are going deep into the Chugach State Park. If you are just going to stay around Flattop mountain, this map is less than useful. It covers ground far, far, further into the park. It is great for planning treks to remote valleys and peaks with seemingly every geographic featured labeled.

This map was long anticipated and eagerly awaited. So glad it is finally here. Essential terrain for your Chugach adventures!

Best Single Map for Hiking the Chugach
The huge Chugach State Park is adjacent Anchorage, Alaska, and is often the first portion of Alaska's great outdoors encountered by tourists. Chugach State Park is also a favorite of local residents, with dozens of miles of hiking trails and tracks spread over a huge area of glaciers, glacial valleys, lakes, creeks, and tundra, inhabited by moose, bear, lynx, and marmots, among other species. The front side of the IMUS Geographics 1:100,000 map provides coverage of the entire park, from East Anchorage to Girdwood and Turnagain Arm to the Knik River. The back of the map provides useful information on the park, to include campgrounds, fees, hazards, and descriptions of some of the more popular trails. It should noted that trails in the Chugach may be less used and hence less obvious than hikers may be used to in the lower 48. Hikers who are used to maps in the 1:25,00 or 1:50,000 scale will have to dust off their terrain reading skills; maps at that level of detail are rare in Alaska. The map is untreated paper and needs protection in wet conditions. This map is highly recommended to visitors and Alaska residents alike who wish to explore the natural wonders of Chugach State Park.

Good map, particularly for Crow Pass.
I bought this map specifically to do the Crow Pass trail. It's a highly detailed Topo map and is perfect for people doing that hike, particularly if they want to explore off trail. The trail runs pretty much down the center of the map, so there is plenty of Topo info for the terrain on both sides of the trail.

Lots of detail
This is a great map to explore the Chugach State Park. It is not necessarly detailed enough as a hiking map, but it is colored to show what is above timberline, and it has topographic lines. It shows hiking trails and will get you to the trailhead and give you a good idea on what the terrain will be like.
