I took a chance on this journal after reading the reviews, but $15 wasn't going to break the bank. I bought this journal as a record book for D&D and wanted double clasps for effect. I was happily surprised.While the cover details are machine pressed, it appears very similar to the pictures. Instead of raw leather, like similar products, the Anuent journal has a glued-in black liner that appears to be canvas. The smell of the glue might be off-putting to some; however, a little fresh air exposure dissipates it rapidly. The edges are not finished (the raw leather shows as a stark pinkish-white) but a bit of leather conditioner and a Q-tip makes short work of that little detail. The stitching is tight and even and the dyeing process give the journal an antique look.The paper is a white medium-weight, which is fine for me, as I write with fine point pencil, which doesn't do well on the heavier recycled cotton found in many of these journals.All-in-all, this Anuent leather journal fits my intended use well and is a decent value for the money.

Rustic feel, i am right handed and have some issues reaching the end of the page when using 1 of the sides of the sides fue to the locks and how rigid the paces and back are, but otherwise irs rather durable.

Very nice piece, but there was cut in the leather in the front. Very disappointing, otherwise everything was as expected

It was beautiful! I loved the design and the locks. It was the perfect size to carry in my purse or a different bag. Not too bulky but not tiny either.

This journal has a stiff, beautifully embossed cover. The sturdy binding and heavy paper are great, and the twin metal clasps on the cover close the journal well.

My son loves to draw so I ordered this as a special journal for him and it's a hit! Love the latch, the paper is thick, it is WONDERFUL.

Very obviously a cheap knockoff. The design is different - instead of what looks like a mighty gryphon you end up with a doofy pigeon. The brand "ANUENT" is obviously stamped to the bottom, that's not something I want to go parading around in something that's supposed to look home-made. There were no clasps on the side, and instead they attach a loose string for you to tie it closed. The pages looked like computer paper to me, I was hoping for something a little more with a homemade look to them.... but I'm not giving points off the rating because of the paper, it's everything else tied together that deserves this listing as 1 star.All in all, if you're a fan of leather journals, dish out the extra 20 bucks and buy from someone whom you know has the quality.

Just as pictured & described, absolutely love it

I was hesitant about ordering this considering the number of reviews that said the dye came off on your hands, or the leather was cheap quality or damaged, or that the book didn't look anything like advertised. My book came very fast, and is absolutely beautiful. I have no issues with the dye, the leather is just fine, the clasps are just as pictured, and the paper is just as described. The only 'difference' is that the griffon embossed on the cover isn't as detailed as the one in the ad. Still a lovely journal worth the money.

The image showed a dragon on the front. I thought I would get the image that was pictured in all the photos they showed. Nope. I got the new with a horse head. So I looked again and ordered again hoping I would get the dragon. It doesn't state anywhere that you won't get what is pictures in the description of the product. Yes there are review staying the same experience I had, but I figured that the issue would have been rectified. I now have two journals to return and I will have to look elsewhere for a dragon journal for my son.Other than the design not being right, the journal itself was pretty cool. If I had received the correct design I would have been totally satisfied with this journal.

Needing a "dragon" themed gift for our Grandson, I decided to take a chance on this after having read many not-so-positive reviews. Glad we ordered it- it's much better quality than expected. The leather is fine and though I only handled it briefly, I didn't note any color coming off on my hands. It's bound well and the embossing is detailed. Unfortunately it's not one of those journals where you can replace the paper but it's certainly a keepsake book.
