WIX Filters - 24770 Heavy Duty Filter Mounting Base, Pack of 1

These work great for an electric fuel pump setup on my Powerstroke. I'm using two for a water separator and a fuel filter. I specifically found these, as cheaper alternatives are known to gall the threads and cause issues there.My only gripe about them is that their "in" and "out" flow is not in line, so if you wanted to run these filters side by side inline, they would have to be offset from the mount by about 1" because the exit port goes straight across to another exit port, so the ports have to \ cross front to back to connect two inline.Other than the port position, they seem to be great filter housings.

Works great. This mounting base is aluminum, but the threaded nipple that the filter screws on is plated steel. The fuel line connections are 1/2" NPT, so using readily available hose barbs to install this is inexpensive and easy. I used this mounting base with a Caterpillar 1R-0749 filter. This base is better than the ALL aluminum Baldwn FB1311 base, the ALL aluminum Caterpillar 280-2698 base or the ALL aluminum Fleetguard 142784S base. Unlike the aluminum threads of the Baldwin, Caterpillar and Fleetguard bases, the plated steel threads of this WIX base won't gall with the aluminum threads of the Caterpillar 1R-0750 and 1R-0749 filters.

These are my go to filter housings for years now. Use them on fuel and transmission lines to keep the vital fluids contamination free!

Very well made but seems quality control isn’t very good be sure to clean this very well befor install lots of metal shaving.

Should have researched a little harder before I ordered this. It's really a nice unit, but I needed a coolant filter. This adapter only fits fuel filters or fuel/water separators. The thread is 1 inch and 14 thread per inch. Most coolant filters I found are 11/16"-16TPI. WIX 24770 also will not fit oil filters. Shame, because this is a really nicely built adapter and Made in USA!

I liked that the threads can not gall. I returned a different head as it was aluminum threads and a Cat 1R0750 has aluminum threads and that is a bad idea.The threads are sharp. I used a steel brush, then a wet nylon scrunge pad and smoothed off the sharp thread burs made when they cut the threads and now it is silky smooth. I included pictures where the typical gall issue occured to an unlucky trucker using the cheap all aluminum filter base. And they can get stuck real bad while in use so the recommendation is to use antiseize on the 2 micron filter threads of that Cat filter which is real bad as it is gritty and if that gets in your diesel injection system its real bad.

The sealing surface on the filter base isn’t machined correctly, and so you have to overtighten filters to make them seal. Also has tons of leftover sharp edges from when it was cast.

Used this as a bracket for a pre-filter for my diesel trucks new lift pump. Worked perfect and it’s good quality. Uses commonly available Wix fuel filters wit 1”X14 threads and 2.75-3 inch gaskets

Product is exactly as advertised and arrived quickly. Good quality, easy to install and works well.

For my 1970 Dart Swinger 340 with headers, oil Filter has to relocated, oil change is a charm after it.
