BLACK DIAMONDEquipment - Women's - Stretch Waterproof - Breathlable Rain Jacket

Brought this on a multi-day Presidential traverse, a trail notorious for its crummy weather. I was bone dry and warm even after our encounters with rain and clouds and wind. I'm not sure how it would do in a prolonged torrential downpour or colder/slushier conditions, but my friend has had the same one for years and loves it. Excellent three-season jacket for active folk, plus looks stylish (you have to take pictures on that trail!!A few features I appreciated:* no chest pocket: this might be controversial) (certainly a bit of a challenge to keep my phone in my jacket pocket with a hip belt on) but I felt it cut down on bulk and weight* The brim is just stiff enough to keep its shape without being hard to pack (I avoid crushing it down though)* Pit zips. Crucial.* No elastic on the cuffs, adding to the longevity of the jacket.* The roomy hood's adjustment was in the back, and the toggle adjusts the cinching on the sides as well as taking in the bulk in the back of the hood. If anyone complained about this hood being too big: you can make it smaller! It can fit over a variety of headgear which is the point, but the toggle at the back of the head does a great job of changing the whole size of the hood. Plus it adjusts both sides at once so no asymmetrical hood cinching, and no loops of bungee hanging on either side of your head. In my opinion it's excellently designed.

I think my REI rain jacket is better quality than this. The base of the jacket is pretty constricted because it doesn’t have the bungee cord to tighten the waist area and I thought there’d be atleast a pocket on the inside…nope. Also no breast pocket. The sleeves look a little weird when tightening the Velcro around the wrists. All the extra fabric bunches up weird. I’ll keep it I guess because I need one.

good value jacket

This is an extremely lightweight rain jacket with underarm zippers. Packs small. The aluminum is almost white but not quite: a soft gray, like polished aluminum. It has a waterproof coat, don't know how long it will last, but I'll update. I needed this for hot weather and rain and travel, so it was perfect.

Great color and fit. My wife’s only complaint is that the front collar is too high in relation to her neck, head and face. The result being she does not zip it all the way up and rain gets in through the collar. She is 5’4-1/2” and petite, collar is too tall in relation to her frame. None the less my wife loves it. My daughter who has the same jacket but has a slightly larger frame loves her jacket and the fit.

I bought this jacket last minute for a camping trip when I found out that rain was in the forecast. The jacket was a great price and arrived earlier than expected. Wore this jacket while hiking and after a heavy rain my shirt underneath was still dry.

I purchased this one size bigger so I could use over various jackets of thickness (winter, fall and summer) it's perfect so far. Hood is slightly annoying since I oversized but I will live with it.
