I needed a small black plastic bag for carrying out my trash on a backpacking trip. These bags were perfect. I was also able to shorten a bag and sew across the bottom, to make a small travel wallet. So far, they seem to be waterproof (but I have not put them to a "real" test for that yet).They seem to contain most odors as well. However, I did place 1 drop of peppermint essential oil on a tissue inside the black plastic bag, and I could smell it outside the sealed bag pretty well. But that will not stop me from giving it a 5-star rating.)I will also note that these bags seem to be heavier/thicker than the regular clear kitchen plastic self-seal bags.
