Cool idea, clumsy execution
Jason Aarons neat end to original sin gets repurposed into Ales Kots space love story. Art is a sloppy homage to Tony Harris. These days the winter soldier prefers to kill with the weapon of boredom. 5 issues, ends on a cliff hanger and I couldn't tell you one thing that happened.

Gorgeous art, ok story
Enjoyed this overall. It was certainly a bit weird and different from the usual superhero fare. Most of the art was gorgeous, really beautifully done detailed paintings with interesting layout and composition that fit into the scene. I love how I can look at the pages and notice something new over and over. The story was ok, but suffered from a few annoying things. I liked seeing Bucky kicking ass in space and working through his post-brainwashing in a different way. Didn't enjoy the severe case of insta-love he had going on with an alien princess. I don't buy Bucky being over Natasha yet. A friendship and a fling with this princess would've been fine, but not being suddenly deeply in love. Writing them as first met in a dream, soul mate types, when we'll probably never hear from her again after this story arc just felt cheap and thoughtless.

The illustration and format is beautiful, it fulfilled my expectations

If you liked the previous series
Really think this should have been a 1 and not a 2 but maybe it's a question of taste. Hard to follow, a lot babbling conversations and I don't really care for this kind of art. If you liked the previous series, I can't imagine you will like this one. I consider it a waste of money, but again, maybe it's a matter of taste.

Multiple Buckys from different Timelines, Alien Princesses & much more!
The art is gorgeous & very intricate but a little distracting at times, especially since the writing feels a little excessive as well & can be a little confusing to follow. The story arc isn't bad & has some interesting ideas/moments but overall it didn't have that much emotional investment. I'd only really recommend this comic to die hard Marvel/Winter Soldier fans. & I'd also recommend it if you're a big fan of Quake/Daisy (Skye from Marvel's Agents of Shield) too, she is a standout character in the story & felt the most true to the character I've come to know.

Five Stars
One of the most excellent graphic novel series that I had ever read

I thought this was a pretty horrible comic
I thought this was a pretty horrible comic, tbh. It throws out a lot of past characterization, and feels like a drug trip. (Which fun fact, there is one in a later boo, if not this series, so perhaps that's the inspiration.)

I don't know what this mess is, but its not a Winter Soldier comic
Disregards every single comic about James Barnes, even the way he looks (no matter who was drawing him, he always was similar in facial structure to his first appearance in the Ed Brubaker Winter Soldier arc, but here he looks like a clone of his movie counter part). I should have expected this after the "Bucky" in the title....a name that he's RARELY called. Daisy, a character from the TV show has apparently replaced Fury, Maria, Natasha, and even Coulson here, making her rather unbeleivable for such a new figure in the comic universe."Bucky" also falls in love with an alien queen (of whom we see NO personality at all) , who in the course of about five pages becomes his lover, with an affection so strong it crosses space and time and universes....riiiiiiiiight. So much for the whole James-and-Natalia-fighting-demons-of-their-shared-past-to-protect-their-future dynamic that was much better.Aside from my issues with the characters though, the plot goes from past to future and back again several times with little to no warning or signifiers of the change, making it an awkward read. The writing is some of the worst I've read in comics: its choppy and colorless. The art is....iffy. There's a few stunning space scenes and two page spreads but about a third of the way into the book this gives way for a washed out, bland and unattractive cartoon-like style. There's no streamline of palatte as there has always been in the Winter Soldier comics; it has none of the neo-noir qualities that we've all come to love and expect from his stories.Over all, the writing is poor, the characters (or rather CHARACTER as James is the only long lived character here) are badly adapted to the plot, the art has very little redeeming points, and its a confusing train wreck of an unintelligible plot.Am I bitter? Sure I am, as a long time comic reader that Marvel is pulling the same awful stunt as DC with the New 52, but the bitterness could have been eased if their new offerings were actually any good.

Entertaining story, beautiful art, different from most Marvel stories
I'm pretty biased because Bucky is one of my favourites, but I really liked this comic. I liked Ventolin, and Quake and how the story ends, I even felt sorry for the villain of the story. The art is really atmospheric, and some of the storyline seems really far out :D I can't really say cause it'll spoil the moment but you'll be there saying "Whaaaat?" when you see it. It's one I'll re-read for sure.At some point I'd like to see him shipped with Natasha again, or at least find his "Dot" that he was dating before his deployment during the second world war that led to his becoming the Winter Soldier under Hydra.

What is going on here?
Okay. I really enjoyed Ales Kot's very quirky but totally engaging take on Secret Avengers. So, I thought that I'd try this. What is going on? Reads like Grant Morrison on some mind-enhancing substance- and that is a frightening thought. I have no idea what or why and frankly don't care. Yes, the art is interesting to say the least, but let's have a proper storyline, please.Sorry, Ales, looking forward to Secret Avengers volume 3, but I'll not be testing the water with any other titles for a while.

trippy
the story was okay but it was the artwork that annoyed me. The actual artwork was beautiful by itself but as comic book art to me it was very trippy and almost took away from the story.

SPAAACE
The artwork is beautiful and it includes all the original individual comic book covers. Also Bucky in space I mean come on.
