Already so I’m love with this book! So much great information. You can really tell it’s written with love. I have two rescue male llamas that I’m bottle feeding. This book not only gives me HOPE but an actual guide as to raise and train them to be happy, healthy and non aggressive babes. So happy I purchased it! A little pricey but WELL worth every penny.

As a new alpaca owner I found this book a great help. It contains a clear plan to create the kind of relationship I want with my animals. It is very sensitive to natural camelid behaviour and works with these instincts which I feel has to create a more harmonious bond. I especially like that the emphasis is on handling rather than training as your animals don't differentiate between the two and most of the time spent with them is day to day handling tasks. I believe that a lot of established owners could learn from this book, maybe my animals wouldn't have come to me as fearful and nervous if their previous owner had worked through this book. Any book on handling/training is not a strict manual, you have to take the bits that work for you and create your own plan. This book provides a solid foundation to do just that.

I work at a zoo and animal sanctuary, and not knowing much about Alpacas or training them I bought this book. I have to say this book has been one of the best investments in my career! Coming from an animal training background this book was an addition to my training tool box. It is very informative, and the picture aids helpful! I even contacted the author and attended one of her traininig classes! Was the best two days of my life, was able to apply the principles in the book and learned some new things! Great author and teacher, great book!

We were given two llamas as livestock guardians after a neighbor's dog jumped a 5 foot chain link fence and killed one of our rescue goats. They had been loose on 40 acres for five years and were not used to being handled at all. This book has been an enormous help in getting to know how different llamas are from other livestock and how to approach and handle them. Had the book, and the llamas, for a little over a month now and making excellent progress. Very grateful for the help.

Very happy to find a book explaining some camelid behavioral problems. Although I am not totally sold on all of the advice. I own and work with llamas and alpacas for the past 14 years. This book tries to sell itself as the bible of camelid behavior. My experience with them seems to vary from that. All of them are their own individual and you just need to get to know your animal to start to understand it.It is helpful for the beginner handler to start to understand some of the potential issues, needs and behaviors.

This is a must have book for beginners ar at any level it is a wealth of knowledge I would highly reccomened this to anyone who else Alpacas or Larmas as I have just purchased 4 and this book has helped me a great deal as this was reccomened to me from the person I bought by Alpacas from and it was the best money ever spent, so glad it was recommend thank you for sending it so quick. A must read for all new alpaca and llama owners or want-to-be owners. A truly enlightening view of these remarkable animals and what makes them tick and how to enteract with them. For most people handling camelids will be unlike any animal handling experience they have had before. This book is unique; easy to read, easy to comprehend, techniques are presented clearly-with the how and why. Wish I had this book when I acquiredy my first critters. A good read for owners of any type of animal. Truly wonderful book written by someone who has developed an understanding through actual daily interaction with them over a long period of time.

Though long and hard before purchasing as quite an expensive book for me. Have found it very informative and useful.
