Pre Level I Physics Teacher's Manual
D**.
Excellent for introducing REAL Physics to younger children
I am using this book with my kids - home schooling grade levels approximately K - 2. All I can say is "wow"! The experiments are simple enough for the kids to do, but thorough enough that they truly understand the physics principle behind the experiment. There are several things I really like about the teacher's manual. The first is the page in the front of the book titled: Materials at a Glance. It covers on one page, all the materials that will be needed for each experiment in a chapter by chapter breakdown on one chart - amazing! Each chapter in the teacher's manual is broken down by these sections:I. Observe itII. Think about itIII. What did you discover?IV. Why?V. Just for funThe experiments align perfectly with the chapters in the student textbook. If you are wondering if you really need the Teacher's Manual the answer is a resounding yes! I understand it seems like a lot of money for the size of the book, but there really is a LOT packed into the manual. The bundle is really the best science bang for the buck (Textbook, Student workbook, Teacher's manual). We ended up buying Pre-Level 1 Physics, Biology, and Chemistry and I have already purchased Level 1 as well. It is really that good!Another thing important to most home schoolers is the "religious" basis of the science. Again, I am pleased to report that there is none, zero, nada! So, it doesn't matter if you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Secular Humanist, Agnostic, Atheist, or another "other" column I didn't thing about - you can use this curriculum. It isn't "anti-god", it just allows for the parent to explain things in their own cultural voice. This has honestly been the biggest struggle we have had when deciding on science curriculum for our kids. We don't fit well into any "box", so finding a curriculum that doesn't put you into a box at all has been the biggest sigh of relief - THANKS!This really is good, solid science that a younger child can understand. It is gentle enough for a child in K, but meaty enough for a 3rd grader. I can't say enough good about this manual; it really is that good.
