Great Book If You Read It - Or At Least 80% to The End
I also bought the Kindle version because my Surface Pro 3 died on vacation and I was going nuts not being able to learn/work. I was amazed at how good the iPad Kindle reader is. And I'm not much of an Apple fan before now. This calmed my passion to increase knowledge every minute. I only got 20% through the 1280 pages, but every page was good knowledge for me (Director of Engineering for a 500 person engineering firm). My job is to answer questions and this is a great resource if you can take the time to read it. I got to 20% on airplanes on one vacation. All of what I read was worth learning for an HVAC engineer. Some of the early chapters are more civil than mechanical/HVAC but IMO it was all worth learning. When young engineers ask me chemical treatment questions, and I answer off the top of my head that softening will not reduce TDS but just increase solubility, heads swivel. I want to instill the learning environment into all of our staff.

Reasonable and Substantial Treatment Reference Book
The content is pretty good. It is a great catch-all reference for a wide variety water treatment topics that includes information on both process chemistry and treatment unit operation. The information is very technically oriented, but most of it is presented in a very usable format that lends well to applied use and adapting to your needs. If I had added this to my collection of water treatment references earlier it would have likely been my initial go-to starter in many new-to-me and problem solving situations.

Boiler Protection.
I purchased this book to have the most up todate knowlege on Boiler feedwater treatment, which Nalco covers comprehensively. The site I am employed at also has cooling towers so the information on treatments for them has also proved useful. I highly recommend this book to anybody working in a manufacturing industry as an operator such as myself or a maintenance technician. They will find the information invaluable.

Got it for work
Got it for work. Of course, it is somewhat biased toward chemical treatments (versus contaminant removal approaches). But, knowing that they make their living selling chemicals helps me keep it in perspective. Good topical coverage and technical competence by the authors.

Excellent Intro to Water Treatment
For those entering the field of water treatment with a chemical engineering or chemistry background, this guide provides an invaluable first look at water sources, treatment technologies and major applications. Specialist books exist to cover every subtopic in more depth if one needs it. I would recommend starting with this as an entry text, then moving to a water plant design book and then finally for your collection a specialist guide in a subdiscipline.

Comprehensive Reference
The text is sufficiently technical and comprehensive in its subject matter to cover the subject well. It is written for someone with a science or technical background, but it is not too theoretical, so that an advanced chemistry degree is required for understanding.

Instructive
NALCO was/is the largest water treatment chemical/service provider. This books taps into their vast store of knowledge. The information is valuable for the novice water treater as well as the "old hand"

Good Book
NALCO puts out a good book here. I was already familiar with it which is why I bought it. It's just technical enough for me, easy to read.
