Spend more or change brand.
After many years using a 2011 21 inch iMac I took the plunge and bought this machine last year due to the fact that my old iMac was no longer capable of System Software updates. After over a year of using this new iMac I have completely given up on it and put more ram in my old one because I am unable to install any into this new state-of-the-art £1100 machine. It is so slow, just opening up Safari takes an age now, I spend most of my day waiting for things to happen and am sick of the sight of the spinning wheel. I've tried everything to make it faster but to no avail. This machine is not for anyone trying to do desktop publishing or any work that includes complex software, Adobe products are absolutely awful on it. I really wish I would have done my homework before purchasing this iMac and if I'd have known at the time I couldn't do something as simple as adding more RAM I definitely wouldn't have purchased it.At the end of the day it is my fault I am in this position, but, if you buy a computer for £1100 then you at least expect it to do the basics and be capable of an upgrade if it doesn't, I am disgusted with Apple for not making this upgradeable, especially when you can on the more expensive iMacs. Avoid this machine at all costs.

Sluggish, Hardware Behind 2020, but OK!
It was a great price on Amazon, i3 processor had always put me off from going ahead buying it at times I went to check out the product on which one to buy, between i5 and i7. It arrive swiftly in the post, instantly met with challenges of sluggish performance even from first boot up from my set up of my previous iCloud settings. The set up took more than 35 minutes and another 1.5hr and half for update and install, which is pretty bad for a new iMac on the market, but after I did the big software update that it required following with a system restart the machine is fine and performs much smoother with out the first and usual sluggish behaviour. Just make sure when you turn on the iMac wait a good five minutes or so for it to fully load everything even for programs in the back ground as it can instantly be met with sluggish antics soon as you start clicking on things. Also make sure you keep the system upto date with its software to make sure it runs smoothly. The hard drive 1TB 5400rpm is very sluggish and sometimes has to stop and think or buff more than 3-5 seconds to get rolling, and slow on installing software or updates. My advice I would invest in SSD drive even if it’s just 250gb in the upgrade options and buy another External so SSD at a high size for your main data storage, as this iMac has old tech of a hard drive, and minimum of 16gb of ram I would suggest too in upgrade instead of the factory installed 8gb, 8gb is to behind for most modern tech. But if your thinking of using this iMac just for general use, checking emails or internet, social media or writing essays and general day to day use then it’s perfect, but if you want something with a bit more up and go/umph! I would suggest the next model up or upgrade parts from Apple directly, but if you just want standard spec of a new machine buy from amazon as it’s a lot cheaper than Apple. I personally only bought this to write a novel. The machine is a great introduction to the world of Apple, but I think other iMacs or MacBook Pro’s from previous years have more power than this at the price, you could find old machines at a lease price still brand new that perform better. You have to sum up what your looking to do with this product, what are your needs and requirements, as the amount you pay doesn’t have the tech of 2020, but then again aren’t well a sucker for Apple products.

I may have been scammed, this is as slow as a pc circa the 90’s
Boots up really slowly, apps crash all the time. Basic stuff like chrome, explorer word all do the 90’s circle of death. It’s slooooow, like two decades ago slow. Do not buy from this seller
